Chancellor Nakhi Welhan
I let her go with no response and returned to the IFVs. I got back in, as did every soldier. Not government eh? Then it's a terrorist organization by Anean law.
As we started to turn around and leave, I said into the radio, "All artillery batteries and aircraft are clear to fire on the ships. The ships are loaded with military equipment and they are preparing for invasion.
"No mercy on the invaders! Kill them all!"
I climbed out of the top and looked back. A pair of heavy gunships flew overhead. The 50mm chaingun is for the people. I had those equipped with HE rounds.
The planes, on the other hand, I have loaded with missiles with a 1kt conventional warhead. That should blow those ships apart with no effort. One of them dove down and launched before breaking off.
That blast shook the ground, even here. An excellent kill. The two gunships then fired at every person on the ground that isn't clearly Anean.
I picked up the radio and, with a slightly change in my voice, "Did you see that? Their ships are loaded with bombs! It's a fucking terrorist attack!"
Once the Senate hears of this, I will definitely be chosen as Chancellor, at least until the end of the election.

Off the coastA single parascope bobbed just on the surface of the water about a mile out from the explosion, the crew of the submarine cheering and whistling as they watched on the view monitor of the anarchy unfolding in the Anean harbor. "Ha! At least they have the right idea." says the captain as he clapped his gloved hands at the sight of the Red Serpent ships being scuttled. "Continue our course, 50 knots, we should be arriving in the northern seas by tomorrow if all goes well" The parascope sank down again below the waves as the submarine began to move once again, going unnoticed by everything except for maybe the local wildlife. Before anyone knew it, the craft was gone... on it's way to it's destination once again. ----- By the time the battle was over, the car had been shot twice by a machinegun, but that was the only battle scars it had other than the dents it got from running clean over the tanks and lord knows what else. "Ahaha... sowwy about the scare laddy... twas fun!" he threw IX a pack of cigars. "Smoke up, this is a victory for us"

OOC: Nuked posts as..well I was kinda drunk when I made them, sorry.
IC:
Attacking a naval ship would have caused less of a reaction than what happened, the red serpent were in the commonwealth's eyes sacrosanct. They were unarmed and only there to help, firing on them caused an immediate reaction, all the commonwealth's naval assets in the north and west of the fed changed course to aid the Red Serpent's people.
Three carrier groups were now making for the republic (the eagle, the hawk and the peregrine groups), two destroyer squadrons (the spear and dart squadrons) had changed course, two cruisers (the Crow and the Raven) and under the surface the commonwealth's hunter killer subs were changing course. The air base in strarus nu (next to the new city) went to full alert as well.
Down south Prime Minister Salato was informed and made an immediate statement, she knew she was on the clock as if this didn't get sorted soon the military would cause a war. She knew that she could not stop them, currently, as the population would back any action they took. The fact of the matter was you simply did not attack Red Serpent personnel or ships.
"I here by call on all the civilized people of the federation to come to the aid of the unarmed and peaceful people of the red serpent who have come under attack for no discernible reason. If there has been some kind of miss-understanding there had better be a damn good reason for the unprovoked attack on the unarmed people.
They only wished to help, they do not travel under any flag as they are not part of any government and do not involve themselves in the politics that would bring.
I hope the big furs in the republic like that they just attacked a group of unarmed civilians that just wanted to help. You will find the next fleets heading your way some what less sympathetic.
I once again call on all nations SOTO or not to come to the defense of these brave and charitable individuals that only wish to help those in trouble. They are not a commonwealth force, they are just a force for good and any sane nation with an ounce of compassion and decency would see this."
Salato wasn't just playing to her home audience she was genuinely pissed off as hell. But she had left the door open to it being a miss-understanding, something that might not lead to a full on war.
OOC: you haven't just attacked an NGO, you've kinda attacked the red cross of sorts.

Holy Emperor Isaiah Xaimoungkhoun
They have a whole fucking navy coming for us. Time to see what I can do here. Just moments ago, the Senate gave me Emergency Powers. I'm standing on the brink of war, but at least I know how I can calm the situation.
Nakhi probably gave me one hell of an edited report. Saying they fired first, but if that was their intentions, they never would have reacted like this. I know the Red Serpent, somewhat. They wouldn't have attacked first.
From within the conference room on the 500 shuttle - I have no idea why they have conference rooms, but whatever - I prepared my little speech.
I am, of course, still wearing my black armor with the 7 gold stars. Through a satellite feed, I hopefully am connected to at least the Cali.
"As I am sure the whole world is aware by now, there was, at the Worldport, an attack upon Red Serpent ships. What most may not know is that whoever gave the order to attack, probably had good reason to do so.
"I have received, from the Chancellor, a series of quickly thrown together reports. While I doubt the validity of some of the information within, there are certain facts that cannot be ignored.
"For example, the colony was, and still is, at Defense Condition 1. By Anean military protocol, nothing, not even our own allies, can enter the island. The Red Serpent ships, therefore, disregarded this and proceeded to enter the island.
"In addition, Commander Soldavini reportedly allowed them in. He was not cleared to do so. At DEFCON 1, only I can let them in and I was out of country at the time attending to matters in Aluez. I was at no time informed of the situation back home.
"To get to the actual engagement, according to the report they were fired on first. I have some experience with the Red Serpent. They are good people and I know they never would have done that. I personally believe that if anyone fired first, it was some new trigger happy recruit that got nervous and shot. That led to a misunderstanding and a fight.
"However, there is no one person that can take the total blame for this. Chancellor Welhan made the mistake of not informing me of the situation immediately, Commander Soldavini made the mistake of not following protocol, I made the mistake of not being in country during this crisis, and the Red Serpent made the mistake of trying to enter the country when we are at maximum alert.
"While I personally disagree with the Commonwealth's response to the sinking, I can understand why they'd do it. However, if those ships continue on course and if even a single warship enters my waters, it will be an act of war and I will act on it.
"That is all."
The feed disconnected.

2nd Aatuylvan Mechanized Regiment Aluezi Nektllnnc Aatuylvi-Aluezi Suukeyt Shaner Aluez
The clean up after the 'event' wasn't as horrible as they expected. Instead of dead bodies underneath dropped skycars or derailed cargo-haulers, they found that they were alive, but most required stabilization.
All in all the soldiers were quite overjoyed when the Aluezi woke up and were fine, and had looked up briefly from the fortifications they were building to help the dazed Aluezi out of the hospital beds.
That was a very long time ago, at least, it was to the commander. His train was being used for parts as they took guns, ammo, and armorplates off of it to construct pillboxes and flak-pits. Even his prized artillery pieces were being set up under the direction of the ground-commander and Aluezi tactician in the area.
He sighed as he began to double-check everything once more.
Time to head home, to Aatuylva, and to bring back more weapons instead of medical supplies, it seems.
OOC: Sorry, forgot about these guys in the excitement <.<
Aatuylvan Command Bunker Undisclosed Location Confederacy of Aatuylva
"Alright brief me in."
"Good to see you Minister, sir."
Forgoing his dress uniform, Stidham was wearing full combat ballistic armor. It has been quite a while, he had to get his combat uniform refitted before he arrived... Everything was going to hell. The SOTO fleet had left, but now he heard an entirely Cali fleet was making it's way north. Something about a skirmish inside New Gracarian waters.
The young Ryvuuli who was managing the aging computer and commsystems of the bunker stuttered for a second, looking back at the screens.
"We don't know much yet, m'lord, but from the buzz we're able to pick up, they've sent quite a large fleet..."
"The Anean fleet is still escorting the other south, isn't it?"
"Yessir.."
"Engkori. This is going to be a mess. Ballistic missiles?"
"Our Missile Regiments are fueled and ready, we have everyone we can manage in bunkers, the palace, and our flak towers. Everyone is taking cover and manning our defense systems."
Bah. Defense systems. We barely have enough foreign SAMs to cover us from the faster planes...hopefully the flaktowers are enough to deter any serious bombing runs...
"What does the Railway Authority report?"
"All trains on schedule, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary railways are on standby if they attempt infrastructural bombardment."
"Think the jungle will protect them enough?"
"It should sir..."
He began to pace, reaching down to grasp the handle of the pistol at his belt, fingering with the mechanism that switches the barrels of it.
"Air Guard?"
"Mobilized sir, our tailsitters are ready and waiting, armed with air-to-air missiles. The squadrons assisting Aluez are receiving orders from their local militias...gunships are on standard patrols. Not much they can do against bombers."
"Alright...put everyone on high alert anyway. If so much as an ant crawls over the border, I want to know about it."
"Yessir."

Prime Minister Salato's response was immediate.
"What bit of unarmed does the emperor not understand? There not even a spear on any Red Serpent ship. They did not fire first, most Red Serpent personnel hate weapons, they see what they do far too often. If they wish to check the ships you will not find a single weapon, they could not fire.
How dare they..." a figure tapped salato on the shoulder. It was a lupine, a saeie, she was the head of the Red Serpent. A pacifist lupine was odd, a pacifist saeie was very, very strange indeed, no one in the commonwealth knew they existed.
Salato got out of the way, in aw of the lupine.
"I am Doctor Cunitan, head of the Red Serpent. We do not want to be the catalyst to a war, so accept IX's explanation. Though how one of our ships fired first is vexing as none are armed, like our people. Perhaps some one had one that they shouldn't have or a third party was involved.
I will hold an inquirery as to how this could happen, I would assume IX will do likewise.
I ask that those ships coming to our aid return to their normal course. There is no need for further bloodshed on our account. We lose people every year, but our goal remains the same. Perhaps if other nations allow volunteers to join our organization we can prevent such errors.
We apologize if we caused issues to the republic and offer only our apologizes. How ever should our help still be required, we will be there. The RSS Hope is on route to render medical aid and we ask that the military of the republic provide transport for the injured and sick to the ship. We have few helicopters and no fixed winged craft, if there are fixed winged craft that can land on the flight deck we ask for them to ferry those that need our help.
Thank you"
With that she left.
Salato was left open jawed, like most of the commonwealth...were these people for real. The military was equally dumb struck, the ships slowed to a halt as they tried to figure out what to do. IX hadn't stopped them the doctor had, they wanted revenge, but that was tricky when the people that you were looking to avenge didn't want it and made that clear.
Salato was heard to mutter "Why is it when I think I have lost faith in people does someone like that turn up, nuttier than a fruit cake...but I wish there were more of them."

Holy Emperor Isaiah Xaimoungkhoun"Well, that could have gone better." I said to the pilot of my shuttle. "The ships stopped, war was averted, but now I have a more pressing issue. Nakhi and Soldavini sparked what could have been a world war. "They disregarded protocol and killed innocents. That will not go unpunished. 'Threatening the Security of the Republic' is about the only thing I can charge them with. Then one of them ordered the attack. Soldavini would have opposed it. "That leaves Nakhi. Either way, I want them both arrested. Pass the order along. 'By order of the Emperor of the Republic, you are under arrest for such and such crime. Failure to comply will lead to severe bodily harm'." The pilot nodded and typed the message. I also wrote up my own message, but for the Prime Minister. To: Prime Minister Salato From: Emperor Xaimoungkhoun
While I can only offer my condolences for the lost, I believe we have a problem that only you and I can solve.
At this time I am having the leaders of my government arrested. Notably, Chancellor Welhan and Commander Soldavini. They were both involved with the destruction of those ships and I believe must be punished.
I would like, as an attempt to fix this clusterfuck, to turn both of them over to your government for trial.
Sincerely, Isaiah X. Chancellor Nakhi WelhanI stepped into the train that would take me to the Citadel. However, as soon as I did that, the Federal Police was waiting. That's good. "Chancellor, you are under arrest for threatening the security of the Republic and the murder of unarmed civilians." "...what?" He hit me in the face with a nightstick and I fell backward out of the train. I think he broke something... stupid fucking human. I'm not even going to resist. He rolled me over and put handcuffs on me. Then he pulled me up and put me in a seat. Damn it.

OOC: My online time right now is kind of limited so I didn't get in here quicker. So... I'm going to lock this thread until heads cool a little more. I'm going to ask folks to go to the general discussion board to figure out how this all is going to progress. As is open conflict seems to be the rule of the day here. So to prevent power gaming it would be ideal if we all worked together to come to a sensical conclusion that meets everyone's RP goals. I'll give folks 2 days to sort things out. Savvy?

Neo-Berlin Hiltia walked into the council hall and sat down at the table, looking over at an all-too-familiar visitor. A Reich general from the stars that he had became friends with. "GLORY TO THE REICH!" he gave the traditional 'heil' salute to her, which was promptly returned to him before he sat down. "So General Kleister, what brings you to the council hall once again?" "I would like a report on what you intend to do about these infidels that have invaded your lands... and if the GGR needs to get involved." she took a seat and looked about the hall, smiling as only one of them was a fur, which was the minority leader. "The Greater Galactic Reich is ready to throw 7 million troops onto this planet in order to defeat the enemies of her ally" Hiltia slowly shook his head from side to side. "No need, but thank you for the offer. We intend on giving the Aluezi six months, regardless of what the council said, to move out of the lands, and return from where they came from... we... don't know if they are truly linked with the 'Unity' you speak of, but if they are..." "You will have our full support in that case, we cannot STAND them, they're just as bad as America if not worse" Kleister shuddered a bit at the mere thought of the Unity being present on this planet. "And what of the Aneans? They seem fairly friendly toward these Aluezi" "They have already attacked us. We have ceased fire for the moment, but we are ready to use your Ship Killer ICBM's as a warning to the world of what happens when you mess with a super power" Kleister smiled a bit. "Glad to see you're on the right path... Our founder would be proud to see the work you have done to your nation if he was here today"

At her place at the head of the table, Vuela just buried her head in her arms and, a bit muffled, asked, "So it's not a rumor about the Red Serpent ship?"
"No. Still isn't.", said Irving-Blinn, who was sitting on the table for a reason only known to him.
"Are they still following our fleet out of there?", she said, still with her head in her arms, "Or are they just parked there? How long ago did Qualt tell them we were leaving?"
"Qualt probably spoke to the wrong faction.", Irving-Blinn said, "Qualt has a tendency to assume everyone else operates the same way he does. It's the reason why he can't figure out how to talk to Aatuylva, and it's the reason why I'm in this briefing room with you instead of him. So he probably picked up the phone and left a message on IX's answering machine and thought that was good enough. Never mind the fact that the answering machine he left it on may be abandoned and in the burned-out husk of one of IX's many mansions that may have been in the dead zone left after the Federation war. Possibly even on another planet. Maybe he called the number for the iPhone which IX only uses to play Angry Birds on, and uses for nothing else.
And to answer your question: they're not following our ships any more."
"Where the hell is Qualt?", she asked.
"Last I heard, he was busy torturing the Sudo to the Apparateur in the basement of the Ellias One building.", said Irving-Blinn, "Interrogating him probably. I'm giving him until about noon to stop and realize how completely useless that is. After that: 323K14L is going to extract Andertol from the premises.
Tisk tisk. You people. Look what you've let them do to our Apparateur. Now he's interrogating his second in command.
But who am I to say? When I was Apparateur none of this happened. If I were in the position now, I probably would have spent 40% of the GDP on a project to clone ASE's emporer IX, implant him with our software and use him to try to influence the real IX into doing things, or at least render him occupied.
Or not. Maybe somebody has already tried doing that. I don't know."
Vuela put her head back down into her arms.
Irving-Blinn slid off the table, and before walking out said, "Oh, and by the way, Andertol is going to be SuperPissedTM after he gets extracted from Qualt's Happy Dream Interrogation Dollhouse.
He also weighs 4 times more than before, has the energy of a tactical nuclear weapon and basically no restraint.
On the plus side, you're probably on his list of people he doesn't want to kill right now. So good for you."

(OOC: REVIVAL! This is also a coop post between me n Aatu, him playing the UN Security Council of course.)
a week after The Imperial Party
To: UN Security Council From: The Commonwealth of Salnai
Greetings UN Security Council Members,
I am certain you are aware of the territory dispute between the Soviets and our great nation, correct? Well an even more alarming discovery has come to our attention that threatens every nation on this planet, including yours.
A nation in the southern hemisphere known as The Kingdoms of Cal, which has been causing serious trouble for other nations in this part of the world, has Nuclear Ordinance in orbit. We would like to point out that even though they are not UN members, they are still in serious violation of international law by putting ANY weapons in space.
Attached is a video clip of the alien invasion last year, and these weapons in clear use by the Cali. Look at the chaos these weapons produce, look at the debris that was produced by these weapons that endangered ALL of our space programs! I suggest a full UN inspection of the Cali space program and all their objects, and any that are classified as weapons be shot down AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
To: Commonwealth of Salnai From: UN Security Council As you know, the events of the invasion have brought us cause to re-consider parts of theouter space treaties, and many member nations are already pushing for the militarization of space in order todefend against further threats. The use of nuclear ordinance, however, is most troubling, and will require us to voteon the matter, especially since it is a reportedly unstable nation. Shooting them down, however, would cause more problems as the radioactive material could survive falling from orbit.
We feel that sanctions and orders, followed by manual removal and disarmament should they refuse to do it themselves, is the proper course of action.
To: UN Security Council From: The Commonwealth of Salnai
You are correct good sirs. We did not consider the fact that radioactive material could very well survive the drop to the surface.
We will be present at the next meeting for this issue. As this still alarms us as these weapons in OUR eyes could very well be used at any time to possibly strike cities on the surface, or to cause an EM Pulse to overload power networks planet side, or to destroy other orbital objects.
We will speak soon on this. Is there any other matters you should inform us about?
The three banners of Unity flew high over the city as the city continued it's lockdown of Alenia. The entire populace of 100,000 had been armed and thrown to the walls if they were able.
Though this time, they had a nasty surprise to give the enemy next time they attacked.

Rear Admiral Colby Volante, Commander of the NDF 1st Fleet, ANS Harbinger Emperor's Orders: Keep a close watch on the Salnese. Report any ship, troop, and air movements.Simple enough. No sane person would attack a whole fleet. Granted it's only 24 ships, it's still a fleet. We're not in their waters, just to be safe, but we're close enough that it might look bad. Of course there's no ships here that might look like this is an invasion force, but they're crazy fucks. Just because I don't care anymore, I have all 5 turrets of the Harbinger pointed toward their land. Emperor Isaiah Xaimoungkhoun, Aluez, Temporary Anean Base Back in Aluez in command of the forces here. Still 2,500 soldiers and 300 GK-I tanks. Oddly, I don't miss for a second my castle and the luxuries back home. My armor, which I have been wearing almost around the clock isn't especially comfortable but at least it'll stop almost anything. The commander of the battlegroup, Colonel Kendrick Tyrrell, has been trying to argue with me about the strategy here. More or less trying to tell me that waiting for an attack is cowardice and that we should attack the enemy head on before they can attack us. I, naturally, disagree. No point starting a war that might never come otherwise. If nothing else, today should be very uneventful. Hopefully someone comes to visit, and preferably not the colonel.

"Congratulations on your success, Mir Vlodovic."
Ulrik nodded, rolling a scrollcase across the desk to Tod.
"It's been official as soon as I got back to Accallia, but I figure you'd want some kind of documentation. Recognition by the council, by the Confederacy, as a sovereign nation, with orders for the Salnese to clear out of Aluezian lands. The governor also sends his sincerest apologies for the whole thing, and insures that he will have the War Minister redirect some of our defensive rocket forces to assist you in pushing out the invaders. The supply trains are running back on schedule, and several contractors wish to bid with you on the construction of defensive fortifications...is there anything you wish to request of us General?"

"Yes there is," he says as he picked up his Anti-FREAK cannon, attaching a belt of 30mm rounds to his weapon as he stepped from his desk out onto the balcony that overlooked the street. "Tell me, how many towns have you found so far that belong to the Salnese?"
Tisra padded her way around the Anean camp before coming to a stop outside of the Anean command tent, sighing and slowly making her way inside before looking about for someone she could talk to. "Anyone home?"
