The Day of IX's SuicideTo all nations of Earth,
This Governor Welhan. IX's funeral will be held on the island in 3 days. To anyone that wishes to attend, there is no need to message ahead. Just land at the Worldport or, if coming by ship, you will be directed to one of the available docks. That is all. Governor-Militant Nakhi Welhan, 3 Days after IX's Suicide, Anean WorldportThe Prime Minister, Tyrone Dodwell, walked up to me. He looks just as upset of the rest of us here. I find that surprising since he always hated IX. I guess he is willing to put it aside. "Did you expect this?" He asked me. "No. Let's try and get this over with though. Are you the only one from Haroma coming?" "Unfortunately, I am." "Well just take a seat. I am waiting for anyone else to arrive." He went over to the seats and sat down. Hopefully traffic won't be too bad. From the terminal, I can see fighters above patrolling. I find it sad that even on the day of a funeral the military is on alert. Not much I can do about that though.

To: ASE government From: Saie Ecquano qn IX The palace of Ayie Ayie-lycia KC
Greetings
In this time of sadness I wish to convey my deepest condolences. As IX was a once a military man the commonwealth navy, have indicated that they wish show their respect. They have ask that you allow them to send three cruisers to give the traditional twenty seven gun salute to a fallen warrior. This is the highest salute that the commonwealth can offer to someone that is not a subject of one of the commonwealth nations.
We also ask that you allow the wind battle group be allowed to do a fly past, with a missing man. They will not be armed, unless you wish them to be so.
Personally I ask that you allow me to place a stone from my homeland on his tomb.
Nothing requested above should be viewed as anything as any but a request, we will not take offence should you view these requests as be viewed as dangerous to your nations security and they are strange.
yours
Saie Ecquano qn IX

I will allow the ships. They will be accompanied by my own since it is already on the way to the southern tip of the island. As well I will allow the planes to fly by. Again, we were going to something along those lines as well. You can have them armed, if you wish. Again, I allow the stone. That is of no danger and I am sure that people will also place other things upon his grave. Sincerely, Governor Nakhi Welhan

To: Colony of New Gracaria From: Diplomatic offices in Accallia, Confederacy of Aatuylva
Dear sir(s), madam(s), or any combination or lack thereof,
The Lady Commander J'ozi Tiam has asked us to inquire about transportation to the funeral, as our current technology will not allow us to do so, and the few planes with that range are currently occupied in other operations. She requests transport for herself, twenty bodyguards, and a handful of tankettes that will participate in the firing of guns in salute. All ammunition will be blanks, of course, although the honor guard will also have swords and bayonets.
Thank you for your time.

To: Diplomatic Office of Aatuylva From: Fleet Admiral Luca Rio
Upon receiving your message, I am already en route with a 50 Shuttle to pick up the Empress. We should arrive in about an hour.
---
Fleet Admiral Luca Rio, About 200 miles from Aatuylvan border
"Uh, whose shuttle is this?" I asked. A second 50 joined with us just a minute ago.
"We're here to escort you. The Governor ordered us out here."
"Alright, but be careful. I told them one shuttle, so that might draw suspicion."
"Understood ma'am."
With that finished, we continued toward Aatuylva.

Tiam stood atop Tower One, wearing a simple black dress that held a ceremonial daggar at her side. It, too, was black, and curved inwardly, it's blade more like a scythe. The honor guard were also dressed in ceremonial battle-garments, black and silver being the prevalent colors as they slung their rifles over their shoulders, sabers at their belts.
Stidham was also there, his personal Brosuukyda bodyguards, there lumbering forms and weapons putting a menacing tone to the day.
"You should be wearing armor."
"We won't get attacked by our friends."
"Friends are the ones you should suspect the most."
They watched as the two shuttles were seen overhead, coming just in time as the few tankettes were also brought to the top, their ammo being loaded out with blanks...

Fleet Admiral Luca RioMy shuttle came down and the rear door dropped onto the top of the tower. I stepped down and saluted Tiam. Though I am sure he won't like this one, I held out a hand to Stidham. I said, "Good morning Empress and Minister." Behind them, I watched the second shuttle turn around and saw the ADNI emblem. Something is wrong. They shouldn't be here.

Stidham gripped her hand tightly before looking back to the shuttle she was looking at.
"Something the wrong, miss?"
Tiam adjusted her dress again, sighing as she watched her honor-guard ready themselves and embark onto the first shuttle. There was room for the tankettes, surprisingly enough, so she wondered why the second one was there.
Probably some kind of escort...

They shouldn't be he-" As soon as I said that, the first of them jumped out the back firing at anyone. I broke Stidham's grip and then pulled Tiam to the ground. I would have done it for Stidham, but Tiam is still the Empress. I think IX once gave ADNI false intelligence about Aatuylva. Something about spears and arrows. Anyway, they are only wearing kevlar vests. They'll be easy to kill. Of course, I don't have a sidearm since this was supposed to be a simple pick up. I was lucky in one sense. ADNI is using civilian assault rifle bullets. Something like 7.56 mm I think. I was still shot though. Five times I think. I fell backward and hit my head on the 50 Shuttle's ramp. That didn't feel too good.

Stidham felt something punch into his chest, going through the armor at such close ranges, and entering his ribs. It spun him around before he realized someone had pushed him to the ground. One of his bodyguards, probably.
One of the Brosuukyda placed himself in the way, his infantry armor and thick hide protecting him far better than the vest Stidham had been wearing, and he opened up with fire from his Sihd/Velar Minussk. NCG-13 'Lumberjack'. It's three barrels spat out quick death as the needler rounds sped at high, armor-penetrating velocities towards the ADNI agents. Aatuylvan needler rounds, while insufficient to pierce the armor of tanks, and doing negligible damage to flesh, pierces body armor extremely easily, and combined with a high firing rate, makes it surprisingly easy to do considerable damage to vital organs.
Normally, death occurs from internal bleeding or organ failure, or the individual hampers their home government because of the medical care they would require, but at the near point-blank ranges in this situation, it would chew through the Kevlar and the bones of the targets like a grinder, cutting them down like a chainsaw through low brush.
Stidham remembered reaching for his pistol, and being dragged back into the interior of the flak tower as grenades were going off...
The bodyguard dispatched the last of the agents with his claws, heading into the interior of the shuttle that dispensed the agents, pounding on the cockpit door before one of the tankette drivers told him to get out of the way.
He fired a 40mm grenade at the door, blowing it wide open as the bodyguard charged back inside, emptying the rest of his weapon into the cockpit.
He walked back out, looking back at Tiam to see if she was ok. He thought he winged her, but it was probably just the foreign wolf. The soldiers and honor guard were already securing the other shuttle, quickly switching out the blank rounds with live ammunition as the tankettes began to reverse their de-arming, preparing for a surgical strike.
The bodyguard nudged Luca with his toe-claw.
"You have alot to answer for."
OOC: Kevlar bodyvests don't help much at close ranges with normal rounds anyway XD

Fleet Admiral Luca Rio
"Yeah... I know."
Good to know I had the sense to wear some protection under the jacket.
"From what I can tell, ADNI was attempting to either capture or kill me. Of course myself, the Empress, and possibly Stidham could all have been targets.
"I know a little about ADNI, but they are too secretive. Thanks to legislation passed by Emperor Welhan, which IX never got around to repealing, ADNI answers only to the Emperor. Without the Emperor, they can do whatever they want.
"This isn't just an isolated incident." I did laugh a little. "You know, I think that IX did more for you here than you think. An ADNI intelligence report said that you're all armed with spears and arrows, and that's what they were expecting.
"Anyway, I have a feeling there's much more at work here. Imprison me, kill me, whatever. Neither I nor any other Anean on this planet ordered this. I always hated Anean intelligence services."

"Well, they mustn't be very good at all, since a 'simple' spear would stab through a ballistics vest quite easily. We are going to the funeral. Your leaders are going to answer for this breach of the Blood Pact."
He jerked Luca up off of the ground, then extended a hand to Tiam, to help her up. She was shaken, but ok. She quickly went back inside to get a change of clothes, coming back out wearing her military uniform and full body armor, her sword, pistol, and a belt of grenades.
"You are going to fly me there. Get a new pilot for that one. We're taking along some of the Accallian Royal Guard with us to talk to your superiors."
Sure enough, a contingent of the blue and red clad royal guard, with their old battle-rifles and bayonets, were now on the roof of the tower with them, their ceremonial uniforms shining in the sun...

Fleet Admiral Luca Rio
"I'll be the first to say that ADNI isn't smart, but they are stupid enough to do something like this. But very well."
I knew I had to have been leaving a trail of blood as I walked. I went up the stairs to the cockpit of my shuttle, pulled the co-pilot from his seat, and said, "You have to fly the other shuttle."
When I came back out, I saw more soldiers. I figured that that would happen.
As I took my jacket and dress shirt off, leaving me with just the black tank top and blue pants, I said, "Just load everything onto this shuttle. The other one will follow us empty. Meanwhile, I will see if our news agencies have anything that might help me figure out what might have caused this."
I sat down on the back left seat of the shuttle and pulled out my datapad. No connection. Odd. I was just reading the news this morning.

The senior Sea lord* of the Wind fleet stood on the bridge of the HMS wind looking out over the massive flight deck. She was a vulpine, a teuie to be exact, she looked down at her tablet computers, tapped it a few times with a claw. Her long hair was more than a little streaked with grey, her mussel was likewise peppered.
She was nervous, everything had to go right, the queen would be landing soon. She double checked the arrangements. It was true that the queen would not be on long, perhaps over night, before transferring her flag to one of the cruisers. Since the cruisers carried the largest guns they were viewed as the top ship, rather than the carriers. Old naval traditions died hard.
Well that and there weren't a whole lot of places a ship the size of the HMS wind could go alongside.
The wind fleet was one of the two commonwealth's massive high seas fleets and so would not be going too close to New Gracaria as it could easily be mistaken for an invasion fleet. How ever it did, normally, as it did now, lack amphibious assault craft and more than a relatively small number of marines.
The commonwealth had other high seas fleets, but they were allot smaller.
"Mam, they are coming in for approach." her first officer alerted her.
*senior sea lords = admiral **RAM = radar absorbent material ---
A few minutes later the senior Sea Lord was on the flight deck straightening her dress uniform. She gave the order "Deploy the radar reflectors, drop the RAM**, Relay that order to the fleet."
"Yes mam."
--- At this point the full size of the fleet was likely to becoming apparent to New Gracaria. As the normally stealthy fleet intentionally made them selves as visible as possible. The ships usually did this when they entered shipping lanes to avoid accidents, this time it was to make sure the New Gracaria military had seen them coming some distance off.
The wind fleet was more than just the two element class carriers (the HMS Wind and HMS Earth) and their escorting destroyers and subs. With it were three eagle class groups (Two 300 meter long carriers per group), their escorts, three full destroyer squadrons and numerous specialist and axillary vessels. The fleet as always was scattered over hundreds of square miles.
Three cruisers were also steaming towards New Gracaria.
---
She watched the air craft carrying the queen land and taxi to a stop in-front of her.
--- Up on the bridge the sea lord of the HMS wind* got on the radio to:
"This is Sea Lord Yea Wantiaor ld of Her Majesty's Ship the Wind. We are here to honour you departed emperor. Come in."
*Capitan of a major ship or admiral of a smaller fleet.

Up on the bridge the sea lord of the HMS wind* got on the radio to: "This is Sea Lord Yea Wantiaor ld of Her Majesty's Ship the Wind. We are here to honour you departed emperor. Come in." Governor-Militant Nakhi WelhanFrom the Worldport's sensor station, I got a simple report. "The Cali fleet is approaching." All I said back was, "Send up the Harbinger to meet with them." I'm not in the mood for talking for too long since I know I have to later. Captain Walton Emrick, ANS Harbinger, Bridge"This is Captain Emrick of the ANS Harbinger. We're on our way north. If there's no objections, I would like to meet up with your fleet since we are both heading in the same direction." Fleet Admiral Luca RioFifty miles from the island. I don't exactly feel comfortable with all these soldiers that would probably love to kill me right now. That could also be the five bullets in my chest still. I saw a third shuttle drop from orbit and then come up behind my shuttle. I got on the radio and said, "Shuttle 3, who are you?" There was a hesitation then the person said, "Where are you coming from?" "Aatuylva. Who are you?" "Was the mission successful?" "Uh... yeah. Got a bit of a surprise though." I sure hope he is talking about picking Tiam up. "Excellent. We are on the way to pick up Tod from IX's house on the island." "Okay." The shuttle then went to the right side of mine. Several Minutes LaterThe shuttle turned and headed toward IX's house. I can see it from here. What a place. It's like he wanted a fortress complex thing for a house. Probably planned it to hold off an attack though. We continued on to the Worldport. I don't like this, but I don't feel like stopping with my wounds. I looked down and saw a puddle of blood forming. Wonderful.
