Usa woke up a little. Her head was a little clearer now. She was inside somewhere. Certainly. There were noises. People. Near by. "Uh, hello?" Sergeant Waya RioWe were moving her down the hall to the medical bay on a stretcher when she said something. "Hey, you seem to be feeling better. That's good." The radiation treatment seems to be working. "You're on an Anean starship to get medical treatment. Just try and get some sleep and when you wake up you'll be good as new." Over a hill came the UTAS Boff. Like many in the fleet of Tinisian airships, it was bulky, covered in things that might be weapons, the occasional propeller, and didn't look like it should be flying. No glowing engines, thrusters, and the propellers were still. The Tinisian flag was waving from several of the masts at present, mostly to make it clear that this was friendly. It landed slowly not far where the meeting of the ground forces was set to be and soon after the Boff's captain, a very tall for a Tinisian mixed canine, and several officers emerged to meet up with IX and company. Imperator IXA lieutenant walked in and seemed slightly irritated. "Sir, there are Tinisians here I think. What should I do with them?" "Send them to me obviously. Just hurry up. We will probably have one or two others coming in." "Yes sir." He headed out of my tent.

"An... Aneans? Oh, ok. I will sleep then," she said, feeling mush less panicked. But still a little wary. Despite the promise, she did fight for a bit to stay awake, just in case it was a ruse. But once satisfied that the voices around her were not directing her towards a fate worse then death, she passed out.
---
A few minutes later, the canine was directed into IX's tent. "Rear Admiral Boff reporting Imperator," he said in a very very accented tone. It was obvious that his english was much more of the british variety than the American. "We don't exactly have ground forces on the beaches at this time, but it seemed apt that someone from our side show up to get a gander of the big picture. Though I can say we've been organizing to contribute some ground forces soon. Can't say when they can get there. Not my department. The others on their way?"

But once satisfied that the voices around her were not directing her towards a fate worse then death, she passed out. Sergeant Waya RioWhen we wheeled her into the medical bay, one of the doctors asked, "What happened to her?" I said, "She was caught in the nuclear blasts in the colony. She's lucky we passed over her on our way to the NGDF headquarters." They rolled her into one of the private rooms and set her on the bed. Almost immediately, a doctor splinted the arm. They don't want to do anything with her until we know she won't die. Then they set her on a radiation treatment just in case. There will be one doctor watching her. I will stay in here if she does wake up so she at least has a face she can recognize. A few minutes later, the canine was directed into IX's tent. "Rear Admiral Boff reporting Imperator," he said in a very very accented tone. It was obvious that his english was much more of the british variety than the American. Though I can say we've been organizing to contribute some ground forces soon. Can't say when they can get there. Not my department. The others on their way?" Imperator IX"Take a seat Admiral." I pointed at one of the chairs I had set up. "I am waiting for as many people as possible to get here so I can have a decent run down of the situation. Including the situation back home and what started the war in the first place. I have lots of questions to answer I am sure. "Yes, that's probably good that someone came here. If I had a proper command center and not this 400 year old tent I wouldn't need people to come here so long as the people on the other side could do a video call of sorts. "Whatever assistance you can offer works for me. Be it as simple as providing air support or actually committing ground forces. "To be honest with you, I have the power to retake this island right now. I took some of my most elite forces from the front lines here. 600,000 soldiers are now sitting around waiting for the order to move. But I figure that if the world is mobilizing to help us fight, their assistance will be appreciated. I think the assistance might end at the edge of the wasteland, as I am going to call it. "The rest of you are lucky though. You only saw what the Federation does from satellites. Though what they did will have worldwide effects, I am sure. Meanwhile, for the last... 10 months I think, I have been on at least 130 different planets fighting. Heh, they tried to attack Haroma just before this. That's how we know they are desperate and on the verge of surrender. Making stupid moves with stupid tactics. "Did you know that whenever they capture one of our planets, they try to kill every man, woman, and child on the planet? Half the soldiers here lost their families because most are from the Rim Worlds. Those were some of the first ones to fall before we could counterattack. The blood of hundreds of billions of civilians are on their hands. "I'm sorry. I haven't had anyone to speak to that doesn't hate the Federation. Well, doesn't hate them as much as the rest of the Empire that's for sure. So I tend to ramble on a little. Heh, that'll probably happen again in my briefing. Go ahead and forget half of what I said. It's probably for the best."

"Chokohlaht? What is that?"
She sniffs at the wrapper, licking it.
"It doesn't taste as good as it smells!"
After a few minutes of sniffing it, she puts it into a pouch she is carrying at her waist.
"What else do you have not-panther? I want to see the shinies!"

"What else do you have not-panther? I want to see the shinies!" Colonel Nakhi WelhanI have to head out. "You're supposed to take the wrapper off first. You just licked the cover to keep it fresh." Got to keep it simple it seems. "Anyway, when this fighting is over, we'll talk. I have to go." I headed into the city and pulled out my datapad. Somewhere in here I have a map of the city. There's a National Guard base here and I need to get into the armory. There are also some tanks. My soldiers were following me four wide and ten long. Not a good formation for a war zone, but the city seems safe enough. The National Guard base is near the center of the city so I should be there in just a few minutes. This is one reason I like small cities.

Steinhosen smiled idiotically at I'Okai for a moment until some chime went off and a message window appeared on one of the viewing "windows". The ship then said, "I am very sorry but, we just received a rush-item and we have to take care of it at once. I'm afraid we don't have time to drop you off first. This should not take very long." On the message window was a list of sorts. Displaying in German, intended for I'Okai to read and know what was happening.
- Restock Neutronium Supply Objective Complete!
- (NEW/PRIORITY)--> Capture and Destroy Remnant Federation Ship detected near the Intermat Antakitheria Station <---(NEW/PRIORITY)
- Deliver Person: I'Okai to Command Center Specified
Steinhosen said, "It looks like you're going to get to see a space battle."

"Oh..dear..should I strap down into something?"
This should be quite informative..good thing I brought spare casettes..pity we didn't have any vidcorders though.
He wished he knew more about what was going on..
--------------------------------------
Ziza followed Nakhi to the armory, pestering him with questions the whole way.
"Is it true that you came from space, not-panther? Did it hurt falling from the sky? Do you have shinies for me? I'm usually given shinies because it's what I did when I was a cub. Get shinies for tribe. I like shinies. Sometimes I bring home shinies and everyone is glad for me, other times they run screaming. I can never tell what shinies do which though. So I always bring them all kinds of shinies. Do you collect shinies too mister not-panther? I like shinies. My daddy always brings me shinies but it's always better to find them or earn them with job. Do you have any shinies for me not-panther? It would be really neat if you did, because I like shinies."
----------------------------------------------
Kazi'na watched the wraiths. They watched him back. He had been staring at them for hours. They weren't moving. They were waiting. But...for what? For whom? Why were they acting so strangely?

Colonel Nakhi WelhanI need to find a way to get rid of her. I guess I can answer the questions though. They are simple enough. "Yes I came from space. No it didn't hurt. No I don't have 'shinies' for you. No I don't collect them. That's the Imperator's job." I reached the entrance to the base. A one foot thick metal door within a 15 foot high, 3 foot thick, concrete wall. It's an AGF base really, but it works I suppose. As the door slid open, with a loud creaking, I noticed something fluffy by my feet. I think I might have what I need to get rid of her. I picked up the fluffy white thing, which was actually a Reshan kitten. It looked up at me then licked me. These things are too friendly sometimes. It must have belonged to one of the citizens of the city. I handed out the 20 pound cat to Ziza and said, "Here, you can have this. Just be nice to it, and feed it obviously, and it will love you." Then again, even if you were to ignore it but keep it fed and gave it water and such, it will still love you. Crazy cats. Captain KCI am getting out of this sewer now. Most of us should have the gear needed to survive out there for a while, but we can't stay in these sewers. I stood up and said, "We are heading out now." My voice echoed through the tunnels. "Anyone with radiation gear come out. Anyone that didn't get it, stay in the tunnels. I don't know just how bad it is out there." I pulled my helmet back on and then unlocked the door into the basement of the command center. It should be hardened enough that it will survive the blasts and let us get out that way while moving minimal rubble and debris. A blast of hot air rushed in. Not so hot it would kill, not immediately anyway, but still uncomfortably hot. I am going to hate being out here.

They didn't waste much time, the view outside flattened out into the videogame-like dreamscape it did before, this time with no Pineapple monsters. They moved towards a cube-like structure, near by was a flat star-ship which didn't look like the Coronan ones. The Federation ship?
The station was a solid cube for a moment until they slowed down and the field of view expanded in a dizzying fashion. It became clear the cube was computer-generated, as it was replaced by a massive, twisted mass.
Soon the ship whirled around toward the Federation ship. It was a smaller one, probably got separated from the rest of the fleet and was looking for the one that went missing on Persephone.
Some missiles zoomed by, there was already a fight in-progress. Two other clusterships were already exchanging volleys of fire.
The strange part was, however, the silence. There was no sound at all as munitions blew up onscreen.
Steinhosen said, "The other clusterships here were trying to offer a surrender. The Federation has 5 minutes to comply before we start firing bigger weapons. As you can see: they aren't too interested. Providing that they don't actually start firing anything large at us, we have to give them the full 5 minutes. Because maybe someone with a lick of sense over there will mutiny their commander and cause them stand-down. 4 minutes passed, torpedo volleys continued as neither the Federation nor the Clusterships made any progress.
A loud noise began below deck. The Federation ship began firing at them.
The ship vibrated some, but not as much as I'Okai expected. Still, he dove for the ground and expected the worst.
"Don't worry, the ship is designed to break apart in some situations... although I can't say I know what that means for organic life-support.", said Steinhosen.
Their ship fired a volley of neutron torpedos, illuminating the screen with a blue flash for a moment. Soon other ones followed producing more flashes.
Another clustership joined in, and now there were about a hundred tiny specks flying all around it. Another couple blue flashes and another couple missles shook their ship, then the firing stopped.
Steinhosen said, "Hold on, let me see what's going on."
He waited for some data to become accessible.
"Ok, they surrendered and....
The crew mutinied, someone else got on the comms and hailed us and said that the commander had been "relieved of duty by way of bullet" and they've stood down.
This is going to take a bit longer than expected."

"Kitty! Is he your son not-panther he looks kinda like you he's so cute! I love my new not-panther kitty I'm going to call him Sparkles! Is he going to grow up to be as big as you not-panther? I wonder if daddy will let me keep him, I hope he says yes I love my Sparkles!"
Ziza quickly bounded off to one of the buildings being used as barracks, her new pet clutched in her arms.
-----------------------------------------
"The Coronans should be gone now, Colonel. After you."
-----------------------------------------
One of the wraithwolves that did not stray, a white furred runt, began following KC, easily climbing the ladders and steps leading to an exit, far from those it had 'led' here. It made it's way out, sniffing the scorched and tainted air, coughing up the dust.
The fox.
The blue one.
There he was.
It strutted right up to him, mewling, wanting attention.
Had to follow.
--------------------------------------------
"They..surrendered? Everything I was told said that they fought to the utter death...perhaps, these were, weak.."
Such weapons!
"What..exactly was that, that you just fired at the ship?"

"Kitty! Is he your son not-panther he looks kinda like you he's so cute! I love my new not-panther kitty I'm going to call him Sparkles! Is he going to grow up to be as big as you not-panther? I wonder if daddy will let me keep him, I hope he says yes I love my Sparkles!" Ziza quickly bounded off to one of the buildings being used as barracks, her new pet clutched in her arms. Colonel Nakhi WelhanThank god she is gone now. I headed into the National Guard base and looked around. There are 3 GK-II tanks, 10 AIFVs, and 7 GK-I tanks. I went for the big building at the back with the big thick walls and thick door. I think the Aatuylvans are going to feel rather stupid if they tried to get the armory open. I pulled down the computer panel and entered '1-2-3-4-5'. The door opened and I was rather surprised by what was in here. A brand new GK-III tank. There are only 2 of these or something. Probably more since war production kicked in. Why there's one on Earth I'll never know, but I can use this for sure. At least for some heavy fire support. I walked up to it and tapped on the hull. One of the small machine guns turned toward me. Both GK-IIIs have an AI in them. A red laser went over my body. "Hello Colonel Welhan. What do you ask of me?" "Just roll out and perform a diagnostic. I want to make sure you are in working order since we are in the middle of a war." "Yes, the Third Federation War. I do wish I could have been fighting." "Believe me, with the firepower you have, that would have been great." The massive engines started up. In this concrete structure they were deafeningly loud. The tank rolled into the large flat area in the middle of the base. Now I see why it was made like that. I do hope the Aatu don't do anything too rash when this thing comes out. "The Coronans should be gone now, Colonel. After you." Colonel Christa Utzinger"Right." I headed into the building carefully. Captain KCI heard an odd noise and looked over. Figures, it's one of Rio's mutant baby things. "What do you want?" I said to it. "They..surrendered? Everything I was told said that they fought to the utter death...perhaps, these were, weak.." Such weapons! "What..exactly was that, that you just fired at the ship?" Captain Caleb TalamoI love my new ship. A brand new Annihilator Class that has only been in service for a week, if that. The ASF Haroma. Now my new job is to track down that ship that left Earth and find out where it went and why. It took some time to figure out where it went, but we found it and got to it in a matter of minutes. As soon as we dropped out of hyperspace, I saw a Federation ship. "Open fire on that ship!" Since if its not destroyed it's a threat. Crazy suicidal Feds. Several torpedoes were fired followed by a salvo from our autocannons. That made short work of the Federation ship which is now just junk floating in space.

"Whoa Screaming Sweet Tapdancing Krark what the hell?", Steinhosen shouted in reaction. The ASF Haroma appeared unexpectedly and finished off the Federation ship right in front of them.
The shockwave of the final explosion caused the clustership to bob a little.
"That wasn't supposed to happen. We were supposed to establish surrender conditions and gather intelligence. Now it's been blown up.", Steinhosen then said, "This is hardly standard procedure at all."
The ship then said, "Well this is interesting.", it didn't seem too thrilled about what just happened, "I'm going to guess that we're going to be getting our clearance from Dackham to go back and get you on your way soon."
The Antakitheria station was now surrounded by small specks buzzing about. But the four clusterships were still in place.
Steinhosen said, "This is probably actually the first time this station has actually seen an ASF ship, I'm sure they're having a dandy conversation right now."
----------------------------------------------------------
Intermat-Antakitheria Station
Manifold Traffic Control hailed the ASF Haroma: "This is Antakitheria Station Manifold Traffic Control. We have identified your vessel as being Anean, based on intelligence. Would you please identify your ship and command?"

"Myarf!"
The wraith sat down on it's haunches, looking up at KC.
This was the one to follow, for now. Yes.
The wraith tilted it's head at KC, looking at him with it's blood-red eyes. -----------------------------
Verani was looking at a map one of the citizens gave him. On it were various markers and figures. A large part of the center was surrounded by a perimeter of red.
"Welcome Centurion, rather, Colonel. I need to know three things. How many men do you have, what is their supply situation and how well do you know the area?"
------------------------------
"Most terrible luck for them, I'd guess. Hopefully it was quick, and they aren't slowly suffocating inside cramped compartments."
------------------------------
"What the devil is that?"
Several of the militiafurs and Havenites gawked at the impossibly large tank that rolled out of the armory. Some laughed.
"No use in the jungle, that. No use at all."
"Well we aren't in the bleeding jungle, are we? Nothing but plains as far as the eye can see."
"It's guns are almost as big as the railway cannons!"
Several IFVs and tankettes had to move out of the way, their patrols or refueling interrupted by the behemoth.
"I wonder if it'll run out of gas before it reaches the outskirts."
"Ha! The real problem is we'll have to clear the minefields out of the way for the fat Engkori."
"Godsdammit..."

Captain Caleb Talamo"This is Captain Caleb Talamo commanding the ASF Haroma. Before you ask what we were doing, we were following a ship that left Earth without informing our fleet so I was assigned to find it. We got lucky and found a Federation ship. Good riddance right?" Manifold Traffic Control replied, "Good riddance indeed. Although it looks like we were in the process of attempting to capture it when you came in. Either way, it's gone. If the missing ship was anything we're familiar with, then we can probably find it for you. If it's one of ours, then just give us the 5 or 6 digit DIC number of the ship. Or if you don't have that on hand, if you can describe the contents of the ship I can look it up for you." ------------------------------------------------------------------- Intermat-Antakitheria StationSingleton Corbin didn't like what he just saw. He found it very odd that the ASF Haroma showed up right as the Federation ship appeared to stand-down. It's possible that their message of surrender was a ruse to try to escape or buy time to use another weapon. Chances are, they were probably assessing how many casualties they had at the time. Or as one of Dackham's ships reported: There was word of a mutiny aboard the Federation ship. When huge sections of the ship suddenly become irradiated to the tune of 30,000 Roentgens/Hour, anyone who is still alive is going to want to pull the plug on the attack. So this seemed quite plausible. Corbin was definately sure there were things the ASE didn't want them to know about the Federation. Otherwise they wouldn't have been so quick to wipe-out an already-hobbled and surrendering vessel. There was something they didn't want them to know.
