"Angle?"
"Optimal," replies the fire controller.
"Altitudue?"
"Fourty thousand feet and holding," replies the pilot.
Commander Krazalgesh nods. "Coms, inform our allies on the ground and in the air we will be firing special flares into their vacinity. They will not be harmed or damaged despite the apperance of the flares. We just want to throw the enemy off guard with a light show."
"Message away commander."
"On my mark, begin first salvo. And make sure to put the fear of death into them." The large tiger lowers his ears as he observes the scene on the monitors. As Azazel's present goes off, Krazalgesh nods. "Mark."
Weapon ports on the airship come alive as what appears to be hundreds of small missiles pour forth from their deep recesses. It will take twenty seconds for them to reach the scene below.
"Be ready to switch over to live ammunitition when I give the word," says the commander.

Mu-Gur's fist fractures on the guard's faceplate, leaving a tiny dent. The guard's gauntleted fist promptly grabs Mu-Gur's wrist and attempts to crush it in a vice-grip that would normally break a heavy steel pipe in two, his other arm going for the demon's neck, gauntleted fist grabbing it in a similar grip, attempting to push the fingers behind the demon's windpipe.
Leo's efforts come to a similar head, the human inside the suit calmly pulling back with the same force that was easily used by the other two guards to carry out the 2.5 metric ton PPC earlier that day, the joints quite secure in their molecularely fastened bindings, one of the benifits of using nano-fabrication.
Taka-Ra, however, almost has a lucky break. The energy swords begins to cut through the titanium alloy chain. The metal, unfortunately for him, takes an increadibly large ammount of heat to melt and the heat is quickly carried away to the fire-brick underlay, being distributed over the entire suit and vented off harmlessly into the atmosphere and snow. The guard doesn't even change his position as one of his armoured fists drives straight up bettween Taka-Ra's legs, aiming for his privates.
The last guard, one of the foxes, just stands in the middle of the field fuming, one side of his armour completely blackened by the dagger's explosion. The dropship makes it's first move as three of the tri-barreled rail-guns open fire on Azazel, slug after slug raining down around her, travelling fast enough that the snow is instantly vapourized and explodes in great white clouds of steam, the fox trudging off to assist one of his companions, probably the other todd dealing with Taka-Ra.

Mu-Gur's red eyes begin to roll back into his head and his body begins to shake, he manages a weak smile though and gurgles "eat this" his chest begins to light up and his third hell stone as Sicarii calls them, charges up and fires a blast point blank. Just the force of the blast send the guard backward, loosening his grip as Mu-Gur initiates a high block and a downward wrinch on his held paw to free him arms. He roars again as he charges up a blast with both paws and releases it streight into the guard's fractured face plate.
Leo Marcus is thrown over his opponent, though he and all the demons are trained in the martial arts, and very well built, plus over trippled in their natural strength by the hell stones, in brute force the machine seems to win. In desperation he drops to a knee and begins to fire off energy blasts, one after another at the armoured guard.
Taka-Ra, sees the movement and obvious threat, and leaps high above his opponent, taking the spare moment to survey the rest of the battle.
Azazel continues to run, weaving and speeding through the terrain, skimming over the snow at around 150 now. Moving back and forth she hits a snow drift of fresh snow and slips.

The guard facing Mu-Gur, the wolf, takes the first blow hard, reeling back as his grip does slacken and breaks. The ensuing blast corrupts the entire hud system and internal electronics, leaving the warrior alive but blind. Seeing he's been bested the wolf plays dead, knowing that while his armour will protect him he's now useless in the fight.
The human facing Leo rolls into a low crouch and facing him, arm-plates angled and crouching low as he attempts to advance, deflecting the energy blasts into the area around him. The going is slow, however, as each blast has a fair ammount of kinetic energy and moving while crouching is a tortuous process.
The fox under Taka-Ra rolls into a crouch and then stands, Taka-Ra plainly visible as he attempts to get in a fairly decent position to meet the demon on his way down, powerfull legs slightly bowed so that he can meet the demon in mid-air, though not possessing the same jumping skill by a longshot, the weight of the armour keeping any guard mostly on the ground.
Azazel, her previous escape having emboldened her now let's out a cry of shock that's cut short as a dozen rail-shots impact on her position within a second, the auto-trackers finally catching up with her now that she has no ability to change direction or speed, outwitted in the end by a computer and a patch of snow, of all things. Oh the indignity...
The disengaged todd surveys the battles and spots his comrade apparently dead on the ground. The todd growls and, having been dropped behind Mu-Gur makes a quick jaunt before pouncing the presumably gloating demon, grabbing his legs and arms and pinning them together and shoving the creature muzzle-first into the snow, applying heavy, constant pressure to pin him.
The mechs finally crest the ridge behind Sicarii and Opalance, weary of what happened last time, and hang back, except for Blackstripe and one of the foxes, who quietly lift the critically injured Raja Borah and evacuate them to behind the ridge where they try and treat their wounds. The other mechs just standing there, watching and occassionally torso-twisting to look at each other and then back at the fight, not daring to inturrupt lest they be attacked, slowly moving back in order to avoid any kind of energy-blast since their physical strength is weakening and the warriors have no idea if physical strength and the energy-blasts are related, eventually walking down the opposite side of the ridge so just the cannopies are showing.
Cottontail: "Does anyone else think this is a bit contrived?"
The two warriors still in their mechs mutter that for an ambush and subsequent battle it seems fairly efficient, and that any military action, if properly executed, will seem contrived, especially since it has been.
Cottontail: "What about our complete impotence in this situation where the dropship guards are at least five times as effective as we are? Even though their main use is garrison work?"
The other two shrug and Cottontail sighs, sitting on the back as he fiddles with the recorders to try and get a good quality video of the battle, wondering if Opalance will chew them out for not helping later on.

Leo Marcus senses Azazel's distress, "Azazel!" He breaks off his rapid fire attack and breaks off in the direction that she went down in. Seing the drop ship he roars and re-directs his attack at it as he senses Azazel's pain no more.
Taka-Ra comes down kicking, meeting the upward blow.
Mu-Gur laughs, "I felt you coming that time, gotta control that anger of yours." as he slips his arms that he folded up to his chest out, gets up on the knee he bent and throws the guard over his shoulder.
--------------------------------------------
Meanwhile at the face off between Opalance and Sicarii both are weakening and bleeding externaly from the cuts from each other's claws and internaly from the force of each other's blows. Sicarii faints a kick only to step in with a canon punch to Opalance's stomach sending him backwards to his knees, coughing up blood.
"I'll kill you yet. No matter what, I will always be stronger than you."
"No, you were always weaker, they knew it before when they chose me and it shows now in your relying on that." Opalance points to his morning star.

*fsht* "Echo two, intercepter away!" shouts teh pilot of one of the fighters. Forword hatches open and 4 small missles shoot out, 2 impacting the energy bolt and two exploding it jsut before in an atempt to difuse and deflect the energy blast. The 2 remaining fighters break of their escorting the dropship and dive at Leo Marcus, their 6 rail riffles fireing off their high velocity rounds, atampting to bing down Leo. Comeing from such a hight this time, they quickly gain speed as they dive and the air screems with their decent. "Echo 2, wait untill the last second to pull up, let the armor take the blasts, it should deflect at these speeds!" says teh flight comander as his guns raindown glowing fire.

"This is Commander Krazalgesh of the Tinisian airship Cenpalis. To all friendly combatants in the vacinity of Opalance and Sicarii, maintain your distance. I repeat maintain your distance from their location. For your safety a minimum of one hundred yards."
After clicking the transmit button on his personal console, the tiger tells his comm officer, "Set it on repeat until one of the two wins. How's the other's fairing?"
Fire control responds, "Minimal affect from the flares."
"Only a three percent reduction in enemy combat capacity occured during the salvo," adds the ships analyst. "It is unlikely the light show distracted them very much."
The commander frowns. "Move to live ammunition and target Sicarii with everything we have. If he wins, I want us to make the first strike. If the good Chatan wins, then make sure you have the secondary targets locked as well. And inform me if the secondaries begin to dominate to much."
"Ay, commander," replies fire control.

Leo Marcus doesn't notice the shots due to his rage untill far too late. He still managed to throw up some defence though after a few seconds it crumbles under the assualt. Leo Marcus, the son of Leo Maxus throws his head back, roaring in pain as shots rip through his body. Finally as they break off he falls back into the red snow his pained eyes finally closing.

The todd who was under fire from Leo blinks and stands, seeing his ally nearly being thrown off the back of the second-last demon he makes a fast charge at him at grapples his legs, grabbing them out from under him again as the two try desperately to restrain the increadibly angry demon, grabbing anything they can in equal vice-grips and wrestling him to the snow, showing the side of his head down into it with their knees.
The lone human now battling Taka-Ra is as calm as ever, fully aware of the situation as the kick knocks him back. He reaches a hand out and grabbs Taka-Ra's ankle, pulling hard at it and taking the demon along with him, pulling it up as he lands on his arse, Taka-Ra slamming against the human's armoured leg as he falls, both sitting there staring at each other before the human tries to pin both ankles and flip Taka-Ra over onto his stomach.
The dropship continues to float, now nearly serenely over the much quieter battlefield, a few scorch-marks one the fire-brick underpanneling the only bettrayal of the fury of Leo's assault.
Meanwhile...
Cottontail: "Copy Tinis control, we have moved back already, we're keeping full recordings so whatever happens we'll have a record for their people; I still hate sitting back like this, though. The Raja-Borah seem to be recovering, though, but we'll need to get The Chicken over here and get them to the medics fast if they're going to survive much longer so we need those 'demons' restrained."

"This is Cenpalis to ground," says the Commander to the radio. "We'll keep our guns trained on Sicarii. If you need to move the wounded we'll keep on the bastard for you. We're calling for reinforcements from all force as well. They'll hopefully report their eta to you soon on your own frequencies. Cenpalis out."

"Yeehaaaa! This is Echo flight, we have a kill. 2 down, 3 to go. Wait a moment..." the flight leader listens into the conversation between the 2 other nations.
"Star Comand, this is Echo flight. We need an evac for the raja-borahe. Seems they've been severly injured in the fire fight. Also, no contact from Echo 3 for some time, posable need for a recovery team. The last 3 targets are engaged in close quarters combat, we cannot engage targets. Returning to holding patern." With that, the 2 fighters return to a high altitde and watch the fight below with the aid of local satilites while they wait for an opening or new orders.

Taka-Ra goes with the spin, bringing around his back leg across the guard's helmet continuing with the spin rising up back into a ready stance. Panting heavily from the drawn out battle combined with the frigid atmosphere he closes his eyes for a moment sensing the others around him and the course of the battle. Sensing only two of his allies, one of which is enraged beyond his senses, the other's strength failing and getting more and more desperate, and two gone from his range completely he grins as he opens his eye's once more and speaks,
"It's not worth it, I shalln't die for this, here, now."
raising his paws facing backwards,
"I surrender."
No such words exist in the enraged mind of Mu-Gur however. Taken down from the attack from behind, his red eyes bulge, his muscles surge, veins pop out as his blood rage reaches it's peak. The anger and fury inside of his clouded and dark mind finaly erupt.....along with his body in a massive explosion releasing all of his hell stone's energy in one final, spectacular blast.
---------------------------------------------
Meanwhile the battle between Opalance and Sicarii, the two life long rivals, is also reaching it's peak. The two realize that both their powers are fading, and the moment to end the battle has come. Both summon what strength they have left and clasp hands in a final test of strength, the loser to be crushed by the victor as the ground itself crumbles beneath the force and strain between them.

The two todd are thrown back, 90% of the front platting gone from the suits, and they land unconcious, sprawled on the ground, beacons activated in the badly damaged internals so that the med team knows they're in trouble.
The human nods and a quiet, bass reverberates through the canyon. "Wise Choice" As he slips a set of heavy manacles on Taka-Ra's front paws, binding them pads-into each other and drags him to his feet, escorting him to the dropship door as it lands, the medics hurrying out to the two todds. Once he's inside the doors he searches Taka-Ra, relieving him of his "Hellstone" and handing it over to a technician who handles it as if it's on fire before marching the prisoner to the brig.
The wolf, meantime, sits up, feeling rather rested now, and unseals his useless helmet, slightly gaunt features taughter than usual as he goes to help the medics pick up the the casualties.
The medics quickly pass over the two foxes, the internals revealing only minor concussions, and instructing the wolf to take them back to the dropship as they run over to Leo to see what can be done, if anything.
------------------------------------
Back at the last battle bettween Opalance and Sicarii the mech nervously glance at each other, crouching a little lower for better balance as they keep filming. The efforts of the two other warriors having stabilized the Raja Borah enough so that they can wait for pickup.

The two Chattan continue to match their strength against one another in a final, life or death contest of power and will. Finally Opalance begins to loose ground, shifting backwards further. Sicarii sneres,
"See....my hatred will always be stronger. I will always be stronger."
their minds flash back to a moment in their childhood together where he said the same thing while they were wrestling as mere kittens, "I'll always be stronger"
"No, you wont."
Opalance forces him back, regaining lost ground and then some,
"I must defeat you, for Michael's sake, you must die."
Opalance begins to force him back further and further untill victory seems evident....

Being pushed back by his rival and his stength fading, Sicarii goes for a last ditch effort to take him down. In one swift move he leans in and sinks his extended, razor sharp teath into Opalance's throat. Opalance freezes, eyes slightly fluttering, then opening back wide.
".....your going with me..."
Opalance slashes his claws across both sides of Sicarii's throat, slitting the two major arteries.
As the light begins to fade from both of them they slump back, both falling on their knees facing each other. Their gazes meet for one last time as they mutter their last words.
"Michael......I'm sorry it ended like this...."
"Jonan......I never wanted this either....."
"then why?"
"................"
".....why........"
