The battle in the gourge stops as the explosions go off on the cliff. Rowan yells,
"Avalanche! Grab him and run!"
Rowan and Silvanus take a side of Opalance and leap high over the heads of Leo Markas and Taka-Ra and begin to run out of the gulley at top speed. However the four lesser so called demons took the opposite and shorter route out of there and return back the other side.
Sicarii stands on the opposite ridge of the valley, perched some 80 feet away from the explosions and yells,
"You! Take care of the pests who are meddling with our affairs, I shall deal with them."
And with that he leaps off and sprints after the three with un-natural speed as rubble still falls in the valley.....

Commander Dobbin Krazalgesh sits in the captain's chair of the Cenpalis. As the opening steps of the confrontation between the demons and the spirit of the Chattan, he tells his crew a story.
"When I was very young, my father took me into his study and told me of the old days. How great leaders and heros defended the five houses of Tinis. It was quite boring to me at the time, but I do remember the ending. How the civil war tore apart the Federation of Tinis, how the houses replaced their heros with standing armies, and how a small group was able to best them all. The middle part of the century was an age of heros for your parents, and the few of us that were alive then. But perhaps, we are in a new age of heroics. Perhaps this is a new age for Ciata. Perhaps it is a new age for all of us. But in any case, we must be victorious on this day, else we loose our lives, and worse, we loose our history, we loose our hopes, and we loose our chances of restoring the Furry Federation and securing Tinis forever."
It isn't long after his words that the report of gun fire comes in. As the avalanch begins, Commander Krazalgesh grins.
"It is time friends. Ahead full. Record and transmit every thing detected and all telemitry. Its going to be a bumpy ride, and if we don't make it, I want our friends back home to know how not to do this."
"Target sir?" asks the executive officer.
"Any thing that gets in the way of Opalance or his companions or tries to keep them from their goal. We can't let the heros be stopped by something as silly as enemy patrols or Sicarii."
My the expressions on the bridge, the executive officer is not alone in thinking the Commander mad.

The mechs regroup about three kilometers off from the site of the previous battle, Blackstripe running full-tilt with the demons chasing quickly behind him, maybe a full kilometer behind as the other mechwarrior settle into crouches and take visual target locks on the onrushing demons before each making an Alpha Strike (full salvo of everything) and dashing out to the sides, Blackstripe making a quick half-turn and skid as he fires off a full spread of un-targetted missiles and laser-pulses before resuming a full run, each mech taking a slightly different spacing as they keep running away from the Opalance.
"Blackstripe, nice work admittedly, even if we die we have taken a great deal of pressure off of the Opalance. I just hope the fifth didn't make it, but if he did it's only him now...
"I do not suppose you know what will stop these infernal creatures?"
"Neg, Cottontail, they are very persistent and as far as I have seen they do not seem to take a lot of hurt from our weaponry. Perhaps if we led them back to the monestary? Maybe the monks..."
"Neg, Blackstripe, these are far more dangerous than the rebels. We will find a way on our own...perhaps burying them? Surely an energy shield can not hold off against that for very long, and if they try and get out they will be crushed, provided they can not shoot and shield at the same time..."
"Aff, sounds reasonable. See a good ridgeline?"
"Comming up on our left."
"Hit it with everything you have got, let us bury these 'tards"
The mechs keep on a flat-out pace, the demons starting to catch up again, and suddenly all torso-twist left, firing a full salvo of AT guns, missiles and gauss rifles at a weakened and very large cliff, rushing right ahead of the hundreds of tonnes of rock and ice that are hopefully taking care of their pursuers.

The snipers, asonished and furiouse that their shots missed, are not to be left out for long. "Hey, is that- that's a Tinis ship. And that's a mech detachment from Barudun! Well, we can't be left out of the fray!", exclaims Nazule. "HQ, this is the Deadeye. IF you don't get a few gunships in here, We're gona be left out of this opertunity to assist our Citian allie while Tinis and Baradun take the glory." "Copy Deadeye. Expect reinforcements soon. ETA, 1.5 minites." The ship swings in behind the fleeing cats, and heards them into the avalanch caused by the mechs. Fireing shots off at thier heels, they leve impact creators in the snow about the size of small cars. With each shot, the drop ship rolls, bucks, and shuders along it's flight path.

They pause for a moment together, taking in the situation, then leap off to their left as they pull back, Azazel, uses her already increadible speed now boosted by some affect to sprint off in one direction, as the other three split up and begin to return fire while still moving at an impressive pace at the persuing drop ship while weaving and seemingly dodging or blocking bullets and begin to circle around the ship.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile in the persuit of Opalance, Sicarii has closed the distance between him and the Raja carrying Opalance and sensing this they drop him and take up guarding positions between him and the Diacanos who rises to an serene pose not exactly befiting the situation and Sicarii smashes into the two Raja Borah guards who quickly recover and begin a hopeless battle with their energy swords against the monster, who though outnumbered two to one, is twice as fast and strong.

"Holy shit!", exclaims Sam. "Look at how fast they move! They- They've circled the dropship!" "Sam! Shut up, that's an order," responds Nazule. "Captian, take us up. Very up! Snipers, provide ourselfs with cover!" As the dropship pulls into a vertical climb, the snipers aim down, and unleash devestaing fire on the targets below. The ground beneith the 3 assasins is churned and cratered by the impacts of the snipers rounds. Meanwhile, far to the west, 3 objects enter the atmospher at brake neck speed. As the RACEVs fully enter the atmosphere and their hulls begin to cool, hatches on either side and the botom of the craft slide open and strange looking guns, aperently mechine guns, pop out. "Oh, looks like tehy want to test out the railheads. Well, keep those 3 busy until they're wihin range!" says Nazule as he fires off another shot and gets pulled away once again from his wepon as it recoils. The dropship jerks and jumps forword with every shot, it's engins straining to gain altitude as fast as they can.

((oops, perhaps i should have been more clear. the drop ship is now sevral thousand feet up, about 100,000, and climbing verticaly. even for these guys, a jump like that would be hard, and breathing would be near imposable.))

(It would also take several minutes to climb that high, if the craft could at all, especially to be within affective firing or in any need to rise any higher, but anyway, lets just say it was too high to reach and is out of firing range and generaly out of the picture, the reinforcements on the other hand.....)

Meanwhile Rowan Stormwake and Silvanus are on their last blows, not being able to penetrate the monster's defence they are being shredded apart by being just barely able to devert his lethal strikes. Meanwhile Opalance stands idely by, almost unconcerned about the fight as if he is waiting his turn to speak instead of waiting to do as seems inevitable. As Rowan goes down, knocked back, bleeding heavily and energy drained, Silvanus quickly joins him on the ground as nothing stands within Sicarii and his rival Opalance. Finally Opalance makes his move and begins to speak,
"So Michael, what is it you want?"
Sicarii sneers, "I want you all dead!"
Opalance laughs, "I wish that too sometimes. You do know howmuch that would make me happy dont you, to be with her again?"
Sicarii, "I will send you to suffer with her, all traitors will suffer and burn."
"Was it I who destroyed the clans we swore to preserve? Was it I who killed the one we pledged our love to? Was it I who killed those who followed him?"
Sicarii roars back, "You took my place, it was mine, my destiny, my power, and you ripped it from me with promises of weakness!"
"I gave them promises of peace, you brought war and death."
"So I did, and I shall continue to do so, for I am a demon, and I shall do that for eternity."
"If that is your will......my old friend, then so be it."
Opalance then steps back and puts out his blade and Sicarii steps forward brandishing his own. The light and darkness facing off again.

*fsht* "Deadeye, this is Echo flight. We heard you could use a little help, over." "Damn straight we could use some help! We have some tough ass targets on the ground. Mind cleaning up some?" comes Nazules resopnse. *fsht* "Not at all. OK Echo flight, you heard the fur. Let's clean house! Standard flight formation, fly low and fast. They may be foder, but they have some weird energy wepons, so stay sharp."
The Gunships are of a difrent deisgn then the dropships. Narrower, more arowdynamic, and smaller, they seat 3 furs, and are more heavely armed and armored. The flight drops into the caynon, haveing slowed enough to make an atack run, and barrels toword the 3 cats. 9 rapid fire railguns, 3 on each ship, open up and fire thousands of rounds into the area. Not a precision weopn, meny of the shots will miss, but with that much fire into an area, something is sure to hit. The Deadeye has reached quite an altitude, and maintains a holding pattern in high orbit, ready to provide whatever help they can untill they recive other orders.

Azazel senses the oncoming threats and speeds off at 100mph+ leaving a huge snow-dust trail behind her. Taka-Ra, the panther, lunges behind a rock face in the shaddows. Leo Marcus creates an energy shield and braces himeself, and Mu-Gur begins to roar and fire off as many energy blasts as he can manage in the direction of the incoming ships.
------------------------------------------
Meanwhile at the other battle Opalance and Sicarii and exchanging blows and counters with their energy swords, Sicarii startled at first, then enraged that Opalance is able to counter his lightning quick strikes. During a pause in the action,
"What's wrong Michael? Can't seem to crush me as you wanted too?"
"What is wrong?! What are you doing?!"
"Me? I'm doing nothing, however others are doing something through me. See this...."
Sicarii gasps as Opalance shows him his chest, which apears to bear another morning star.
"The monks gave me this, they call it the twilight star, because it will bring an end to an age, the age of beasts and demons like you, who use this power to destroy and not protect. You got your wish, we are once again equals."
"No! I will never be as pathetic and weak as you, never again! I am Sicarii, the most powerfull being in the world, and this world shall be mine and I shall destroy all who stand in my way!"
At that the battle resumes with evem more ferocity, the light uncia and the dark clashing again in a battle of titans.

The mechs, saved by the avalanche blocking the path of the 'demons' make a quick jaunt to the ridge and jump-jet over, moving down another canyon back to the point where Blackstripe had started his 'ambush' of the demons Sicarii, moving out in a tight wedge, the warriors scanning sensors and the terrain by eye, the sounds of the firefight from the next ridge over reflecting over the canyon.
Scout A: "Is Raging Chicken comming soon?" Cottontail: "Aff, she is comming. Should be...twenty kilometers out by now, eta 2 minutes?" RC's co-Pilot: "Aff, commander. Would you like a pickup?" Cottontail: "Neg, our allies need assitance, we will attempt to assist Opalance." RC's co-Pilot: "Aff, commander, we will proceed. The guards are looking forward to this, I can tell." Cottontail: "Oh?" RC's co-Pilot: "They wish to prove themselves in battle, not just assisting techs."
The dropship quietly hums over the ridge, dropping the first of the heavily armoured guards in front of Azazel, the guard clotheslining the demon, his mass and the thickness and ridgidity of the armour extraordinary, as well as the speed with which it moves.
The other three guards are dropped in close proximity to their own targets. Taka-Ra the first to be 'ambushed', the guard emotionless as he drops down on the demon from the nearly silent dropship, armoured fist brought down with enough force to shatter a large rock, Leo being restrained bodily from behind and Mur-Gu simply smashed in the face; energy attacks being reflected off the angled armour and the dropship's underside, designed to take the full heat of re-entry and then some.
The armour is now much more apparent to those who are facing these guards.
Thick plates of high-carbon steel and titanium mixed with a small ammount of silver, ranging from half and inch to a full inch in thickness cover every part of the warriors, joints further reincorced with several layers of titanium-chain mesh. The front of the helmets are completely covered in the same armour platting, providing no apparent means for the warriors to see. Angled plates cover the torso and head, allowing projectiles to ricochet off rather than have to be stopped, the arms and legs heavily reinforced to withstand extensive use in mele combat.
The internals are very interesting. The actual source of vision are a set of miniature cameras housed in armour ridges along the helmet, their output is run through an internal computer and HUD to give each warrior a full 360 degress of vision compressed into a 90 degree arc on an internal projetion system. Neural sensors within the armour are connected to the bare skin of each warrior, the sensor having been carefully placed under the fur so none of it has to be shaved. The strength is provided by myofiber bundles under the the third layer of armour, a seperate heat-absorbtion layer and chainmail layer bettween the plating and internals. This technology, however, is unknown to anyone, and the demons have no way of knowing.
The warriors themselves are thin and limbre made up of foxes, a wolf and a single human. The reason for their emotionless fighting is a rather odd one.
The guards, when being taught to use their armour, are also taught complete control over their own emotions for a simple reason, the neural pickups that are used for controlling the armour. Nevousness, agitation, adrehnalin all contribute to increased muscle tension and, if it gets out of control, can easily lock up the armour's control systems until the warrior can be calmed down again. The creators realised this early on and concluded that it might be fatal, thus every warrior is trained to be emotionless during battle. The trainging also includes mele-combat skills, both armed and unarmed, and though these are not as flashy or complex moves the speed and power with which they can be carried out make them frighteningly effective none the less.
Because the warriors are not trained for strength they are trained for agility and perceptiveness instead, relying on their armour to provide the strength to their own blows.
The warriors say nothing as they re-commence the fight the Raja Borah left off, the dropship gaining some altitude as it hovers, guns trained on the demons in case one of the warriors should need backup but not firring.

In the hail of energy blasts that are fired from Gur, the ships dive, weave, and roll to avoid being hit. One ship, however, catches a passing blast down the rigth side of the craft, tearing off the gun, and damaging the engin. *fsht* "This is Echo 2. I'm hit, repeat, i have been hit. Starboard side sustaining heavy damage. Starboard engin at 30%. Starboard wepon destroyed. Hull integrity at 50%. I am breaking off, repeat, i am pulling out." With that, one of the now smoking ships pulls up and rolls over the ridge and finds cover on the other side. His ship slows down once ou of the fight and hovers along about 50ft off the ground, running diognosics and checking to see the he'll be able to make it back to the station. The other two continue to fire right up untill the powered suits drop into the fray, and then break off, so as not to hit their allies. *fsht* "Raging Chickin, this is Great Big Wet Thing Sapce flight Echo. Good to see you, maybe your boys can do some damage. Shall we escort your ship to a safer altitude? Over."

Mu-Gur staggers back a couple steps from the blow, head tilted back. He slowly lowers it back, blood trickling down from his mouth which is marked with an evil smile and wild eyes that are quickly glossing over with red blood rage. He lunges forward, faster than ever, and smashes the guard right back in the faceplate.
Leo Marcus kicks back his right leg and rolls while being held by the guard, at the same time pulling in his wide shoulders and shoving his arms up, breaking out of the hold. He grabs an arm at one side with his claws and puts on foot on the side of the guard's head and another on the side of his chest and pulls with all of his strength, waiting for something to break.
Taka-Ra was sent deep into the snow by the force of the blow, but his energy shield did not break. Grinning, he pushes it out like an energy wave, blowing the guard back. Unleashing his energy sword from his paw his eyes search for a weakness....."There! Knee joints and the rear of the leg. They must be flexible and must be weaker and thinner than the rest" He lunges forward, making a spinning strike for the two weak spots he found.
Azazel lays on the ground, only twitching slightly, as the guard moves over to check his foe a smile moves across her face, "Have fun love." She tosses her dagger to the guard, leaps up, and sprints off again. The slightly confused guard looks at the dagger cast aside for a moment, just as it starts to glow and just before it explodes, it being her last resort as an assassin, the explosion rocking the snowy battle field.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile at the battle with Opalance and Sicarii, they exchange blows as they both begin to tire, despite their great powers, due to the ferocity of the fight and the speed required to block each blow. Finally they both releae the swords and begin to fight paw to paw and claw to claw. Very soon blood from both furs is splattered across the formerly pure, white snow.
