A black bear in green fatigues enters the mobile command post. The soldiers inside pause, stand and salute.
"At ease. General," he says to a thin grey striped feline who is overlooking some maps. "What's our status?"
"We've completed our deploy along the boarder as you ordered. Air patrolsare in progress. There have been no incidents."
"Any word from Foxtrot Oscar?"
"None yet Commander. Marker B was last reported as being heavily fortified. The local terrain has made it difficult for medium air or armor to approche close enough for a viable strike."
"I don't think we'll be using either. Before to long Supreme Commander Epshrin will get the word of the passing of the politic and will have General Kamif go to full action."
The feline smiles. "I haven't heard much about the resolution. Its passing then?"
"The voting closes shortly but yes, its passing currently by four to one. However, it also means that Shikeishuu will likely begin major operations."
"You mean what they've done thus far is not major operations?"
"Sorry General, but you forget their universal draft. But those operations will not be our duty. Our duty is to defend Ciata from any more incursions by hostiles. And I suspect that when things heat up in the next couple days, a number may try to flee Shimandu, quite possibly trying to cross into Ciata. Maintaining high alert is a given."
<meanwhile, near Marker B>
Sargent Kad is again looking through his binoculars. The rest of his squad wait for his orders. "Okay. I think we can take it."
"Sir?" asks Smith.
"The patrols on the walls leave an opening for us to rush the left gate. Wiknen, you'll take out the two gate guards there and then immediatly after setup the wall patrols. Make every shot count of course. They might have their own sniper. Everyone else will follow me through the gate and immediatly into the back bunker. I haven't seen any activity over there so resistance inside will likely be light. That bunker will give us a fire zone over much of the base but only Grizwold and Rovest will remain inside. Don't start firing until the hue and cry goes out that we're here. The rest of us will hop to the central bunker. If we don't locate the hostages inside, we'll seal the door and set up the explosives. If the hostages are inside, then things will be more difficult."
The mouse looks around at his soldiers. "Is everyone ready?" The all nod. "Then move out!"

Ciata has now resumed it's relief efforts, even without the guard of the Raja Borah, civil groups have again been allowed to enter Shimandu by the Diacanos to continue their relief and assistance efforts in the north-west.
Also, after receiving council from his Spiritual advisor, the Diacanos has issued a statement to the people of Shimandu stating....
"All of the feline race are free to come an enter our country, ta form yer own clans. All we ask is that you lay down any weapons you may have and any violant feeling you may harbor to anyone and abide by our laws and statutes."

Related news, from the southwestern border of Vylland.
Hearing of the timely arrival of a new country rumored to be prosperous and of lax immigration control, many Shimandu refugees have been traveling to Vylland along the border of Shikeishuuu. Shanty-towns are forming along the southern border of Vyl. The Immigration Department has an official statement: "We have a policy of allowing all immigrents with no more than minor criminal records and usable skills into the country perminantly. However, due to the Shimanu fall and loss of records of the countries occupents, there will be an unavoidable delay in processing many of these. Every possible effot is being made to ensure the well-being of the refugees until such time as they can be investigated and each either approved or rejected individually. Food and water distribution is being carried as as a temporary measure until more appropriate medium-term accomodation can be made available."
*Video: The shanty-town, a once-green field now reduced to mud and densely-packed shacks, many of which are build against vechicles presumably used by the buildings occupents to reach the town. Various species - Vyls very apparent from their bright coloring - wander between the buildings or sit in the muddy streets. A food-truck distributes parcels, guarded by two Vyls with kevlar covers and rifles.*

"Well, I think this might be it then. I think we're on our own here."
Sargent Kad glances around at the other four surviving members of his squad.
Grizwold, who's snout is currently hidden by the stiches, grunts while looking at Wiknen, "So the hostagest are here then?"
"I counted at least twenty three of them. I checked their apperances with what the tower had on them, and they match up pretty well."
"What about the last one?" asks Kad of Wiknen.
"Didn't see him."
"And the guards. What of them?"
"They thiner then the last time we encountered these guys. I think some of their felines probably skipped out after hearing about the Ciata deal. And of course there's the number of them that we killed when we last tangoed."
Sargent Kad nods. "Rovest. Any clues as to their destination yet?"
The doe answers, "From the beacon they went to the bunker, and then to the factory. This lesiure center is right along their path it seems. We're definatly moving towards central Shimandu. And unfortunatly, that's were any federation forces have the least control."
"Perhaps we'll be bringing that control eh?" asks Wiknen the fox.
His sargent responds, "I think you overestimate our abilities private, but thanks for the boost of confidence." The mouse chuckles. "We'll be needing it."
"So are we going to strike again?" asks Meshant, a spotted taby.
Kad grins. "Of course. But this time, a change of tactics. With the exception if Wiknen, who will be doing his usual sniper duties, none of us will be using our guns."
"Sir?" asks Rovest.
"Stealth is glorious. And this type of building is great for an close and personal type of battle. Of course, if they start firing their weapons, then we've been caught and open fire. But until then no shotting. Understand? And Wiknen, only take down those that are by themselves."
"Understood."

Opalance Calaminion sits in the guiding seat in the citadel, his long tail twitching and his rainbow eyes, currently with a slightly red hugh, are fixed upon the least likely creature to be in such a place, a wolf.
"So, yer the infamous mercinary, Blade Silverbane eh?"
The wolf, who's dark silver coat is partialy covered by a leather outfit that implies that he is neither afraid of the cold, nor anyone elses opinion, speaks.
"Aye, that's me, though I do dislike the term mercinary, I prefer, a man of many causes."
Opalance gives a *humph*
"Or a creature who has no cause of his own."
The wolf cocks his head to the side and glares
"I dont give my services to everyone, I pick and choose to fight for what I believe in, and get paid for it. Speaking of which....."
Opalance leans back in his chair.
"Yes, de payment. Ya will recieve payment dependin' on how long an how active you and yer forces are, by how much good ya end up doin."
The wolf's chops form a grin.
"So kill em quick, or drag it out, same amount huh?"
Opalance nods.
The wolf takes a step back, half turning his body.
"Well then, I guess I had better be goin' then."
Opalance interjects.
"However, there is two terms you must agree to."
The mercinary takes a deep sigh.
"Aahhh......the catch."
Opalance leans forward.
"Yes, condition one, we will not permit the needless, er wot we deem as needless killin' of any creatures. Second, you will be accompanied by 3 of our Raja Borah, to make sure you keep to the first condition. An if anythin' happens ta them, I'll send more ta do more than escort you around, or at least all of you. Understand?"
The wolf nods.
"I understand."
Opalance leans back again.
"Fine then, leave this place an be on yer way, I will notify our allies in Shimandu that you are on yer way."
He watches as the wolf leaves, and once he is gone takes a deep sigh and slumps back into his chair. He turns to his body guard Cy Gafon, and asks.
"Well, I hope that was the right thing ta do."
The large Uncia nods and replies.
"It is the only thing we can do sir."
Opalance nods his head in agreement.
"Yes, I know, part of this mess is because of us, an our kind, we must do whatever we can ta stop it as quickly as we can."
Opalance sits up and turns to Cy.
"Cy, I want you to accompany him."
A very confused and dismayed look comes across the large feline's face.
"Yes I know Cy, you feel your duty is here, an truly it is, but someone must rid us all of Sicarii, and you might be the only one who can do it. The other two you can choose from the Raja, two to watch your back, while you watch the mercinary's and watch out for Sicarii."
Cy regains composure and replies.
"Yes sir."
Opalance rises and faces him and nods his head.
"I have the deepest respect for you, an hold you above all the rest of the Raja in your abilities, an as my friend."
Cy nods his head down, meeting Opalance's forehead in a farewell.
"Thank you Opalance."

Blade Silverbane's mercinary army crosses the Shimandu border after receiving their commission from Opalance Silverbane to hunt down the Clawsin and their leader, Sicarii and to eliminate them. Their highly specialized force of nearly 3,000 furs of every immaginable species mobilizes with assorted tanks, armoured vehicles, light ATVs, mobile AA bateries, and troop and supply carriers. A large mobile base houses Blade Silverbane and the other strategical minds of the force, which travels at the center of the convoy. Inside.....
Blade, "Well, we finally get our paws into this little scuffle, info ops, what are we up against?"
A small anthro-owl pivits his head to give the report, "the usual war-torn, in up-heaval, chaotic anarchy that results after such events. We have numurous war lords and former government officials laying claim to verious areas, a break down of transportation, communication, buisness in the areas not currently controled by FF forces, and currently no good leads on our quary, the Clawsin."
Blade, rolling his eyes, "Well that didn't help much. It looks like we'll have to do this the hard way, weed our way through one area after another and hope we get lucky."
Then, out of the front area of the mobile building, approches a grey and white, anthro, siberian husky. Everything from her lacy blouse to short skirt emmits an air of femminism, her being a model of canine beauty made her a very distracting package as the tech boys once again find out.
Blade, "Hey! Eyes off, get back to work!"
The husky, who acts like this is a normal occurance, speaks in a tone matching her appearance, "Well, we could use our scouts to find the target, we do pay them to do that dont we?"
Blade, "Oh yes my dear Saber, of course, they do need to earn their keep."
Saber, "Yes, they have a job, they must be getting bored, like some others around here......" She gives him, the look.
Blade, "Uh huh......, tech, how long untill we make our deployment stop?"
the owl, snapping his head back around, "Around 4 hours sir."
Blade, "Good, inform the scouting units to prepare for deployment. I have some buisness to take care of, so dont bother us untill we arive, now get back to work!"
*Yes sir!*

"Go! Go! Go!" yells Sargent Kad at the medical personel as they run down the sewer tunnel. Echos of gun fire resonate from wence they came. Sargent Kad takes up the rear and continues to glance back at the bend. Suddenly Private Rovest appears from around the corner, firing wildly down the other hall before jumping out of the way of incoming fire.
"Sir! They're catching up quickly!"
A bullet richocehts off a wall and strikes Rovest in her side. She falls to her side. Kad hesitates before continuing on and grabbing his radio.
"Grizwold! Where are you?"
No answer.
"d**n it!"
Looking back again he spots Rovest pulling her self up and firing around the corner towards the enemy. She is unable to stand all the way and is holding the gun around the corner and firing blindly. She glances back at Kad and nods her bloodied head. Kad nods in return and chases after the fleeing ex-hostages.
The sewer ends at a metal grate. Beyond the grate appears to be a river through a forested area. Immediatly before the grate is a ladder leading up to a closed manhole. Kad moves past the hostages and scrambles up the ladder. The mouse practically punches the cover off and sticks his head up in one movement.
The barrel of a gun meets his gaze immediatly. He glances up the barrel to see a grinning black fox.
"Sargent Kad, I presume. I'm sorry, but I can't let you take them. My boss kind of needs them. Goodbye."
The fox's head tilts to the side. Blood runs from his ears as his body relaxes. Kad watches the black fox fall to the side, dead.
Seeing no one else about the mouse mutters, "Thanks Wiknen." He pulls himself out of the hole and begins to quickly pull up the medics from the sewer. The gun fire from the sewer quiets down as the last of the ex-hostages is pulled free. Kad tosses a couple grenades down the way they had come before putting the cover back on and bracing it in place with a power clamp.
"Everyone! Go that way, I'll be right behind you!" he yells pointing north. Into his radio, "Wiknen, inform command that we've extracted the hostages from the lesiure center and that we are moving north towards beacon Charlie tweleve, estimated time of arrival thirty minutes. Meet us there when you can and if they come up from the sewer try to slow them down as much as possible." The grenades explode. The manhole cover cracks but doesn't move but the grating to the river shatters.
Kad and the Llewellynland medics follow the river to a bridge. They cross and jog down the road towards the becon. The next twenty minutes are quiet. As they round a hill they spot the helicopters with the phrase 'FFDF - Tinis Branch' painted on their sides waiting for them. Wiknen is no where to be seen.
----------
Epshrin is handed a paper. He nods and smiles.
"It looks like we have some good news on the hostage front. Apparantly that dumbass Kad pulled it off. Only two medics perished and one's still missing." He reads on. "It also looks like he's missing the rest of his squad."
"You know, Supreme Commander," says Commander Vinlia, a female white wolf. "I told you not to underestimate Kad. My plan worked did it not? We've rescued the remaining hostages..."
"All but one."
"Yes, all but one who most likely died in one of the armies attempts at rescueing them. But he's save the lives of over twenty aid workers today. Usil's tanks would never have been able to do that."
"Vinlia, he still lost his squad," comments Commander Krazalgesh, a very large and imposing tiger wearing the symbol of the airforce. "I thought special forces were supposed to strike without any losses? It seems Kad is in fact inept because he has failed to do that. I'm kind of sorry to hear that your favorite pupil has failed you this day." Krazalgesh grins at this.
"In odds twenty to one, Kad performed better than any of you're fliers ever did. What happened just a couple weeks ago near Ciata? Do we have to reopen the wound that is the loss of one of your magnificent air ships?"
Krazalgesh is silent.
Epshrin says, "Kad did well to save the medics. I look forward to his report. Inform analysis that the hostages have been rescued and have them focus on why they were taken in the first place."

In the mobile headquarters of Silverbane's mercinaries:
Cy Gafon, not at all happy with his current status of sitting around in a small, cramped area with many, colorfull to say the least, individuals, waiting for some type of progress finally grows tired of it all enough to ask the ever reclining or "taking care of buisness" leader, Blade.
Cy, "what exactly are we doing here?"
Blade, leaning forward from his very-easy chair, "Nothing."
Cy, somewhat angered, "What?"
Blade, "WE, are doing nothing, it's the scouts that are doing all the work right now, all we can do is wait for them to find something to shoot at, then we do our jobs."
Cy, somewhat calmer, "Well when will they return?"
Blade, "Whenever they find something."
Cy growls and turns to walk off to resume waiting when a radio message comes in over the speakers.
*This is scout unit Brave Fox, we've spotted a city that seems to be under hostile control.
Blade, "Alright! Lets move out. Everyone, stand by! Let's roll!"

The mercianary forces have arrived at the city, the command vehicle stops about 3 miles outside the city limits.
Blade, "There, we should be safe from and guarding TOW missles. Tech, inform the scout squads to dismount and head to the outskirts of the city in stealth mode, setting up sniper positions. I want a dozen stealth unit pairs infiltrating the city taking out phone lines and any comm stations, tell them to go high, hit the roofs and watch out for lookout stations. Ready 12 special assualt squads, 30 each and get them to each hand of the city, ready to move in and get the artillery ready incase we have to roll in to bail them out if they get hung down and the comm network is still all up and they come after one unit. And inform the snipers that they have a free fire once the shooting starts to throw them off in the areas that the stealth units are in."
Cy, coughs (fake of course) "You mean anything that is hostile."
Blade, "Oh yes, I forgot. Tech, tell them that they can shoot anything that looks (does the quote finger thing) evil. Move out!"

Wiknen observes the newly arrived forces in silence from the remains of a burned out bus. Out of ammo, nearly out of food, radio dead, cut off from the planned rondevous point by enemy forces to the north and east, he waits for either an oppening or fate. He pulls out his binoculars and zooms in on a large vehicle near the center of the formation.
"What the hell? Silverbane... Who called you guys?"
The fox continues to watch for a time. The mercenaries do not appear to have spotted him. Wiknen mulls over the possibilites and decided. He straps his rile behind his back and crawls from the bus. With his paws up, he begins walking towards the mercenaries.

Swift McSteal, a young weasel mercinary, rounds a street corner, not without checking first of course, and snifs out the area. Seing no immediate danger, he signals to the rest of the squad, Green Eagle, to come around as well. They had not gotten 20 yards before the spotted a tattered fox coming from a bus. Their immediate , survival responce was to shoot, but his arms were up, their seccondary responce, seing the gun, was to shoot, but they remembered a mercianry golden rule, "Never destroy what you can sell" and taking a hostage or rescuing somebeast (depending on if they will pay for the person back or not) is easy money in their book. They yell at him to put his gun down, and once he does they aproach. They let out a bit of a groan when they see Tinis flag on his shoulder, knowing they had just made a rescue instead of a capture.
Swift however, being new at this kind of thing, did not trust him after hearing all kinds of old war stories of creatures killing other creatures and taking their uniforms in war, quickly exclaims in hus weasily, high pitched and slightly off more than normal voice and points his gun right at the foxes face.
"Who ya be!? Huh!?"
The weasel then gets smacked in the head by burly brown bear.
"McSteal, you idiot. You can tell by the way they walk if they are Tinisian army or not. Forgive him, he's young, inexperianced, and stupid. We're part of Silverbane's force, we're ridding this city of insurgents. Seing as we get paid by how few people we get killed and how many we rescue from harm, you'll be heading back out of here I suppose."
"McSteal! You can accompany him back to headquarters, now get going, we have to keep moving to keep the suprise up."
The downcast weasel slumps and turns around and doesn't say another word to keep from getting another knot on his head.

Rubbing his head, the grey fox comments, "Despite the lump on my head, I can say that I'm happy to have met you. Watch out for the gym on the south side of town. That's a nasty nest. Oh, and its Private Wiknen if anyone asks."
Wiknen smiles at bear before following Swift's lead.

When Reana and Rowan Stormwake entered Shimandu, they did so leaving little to no trace and making as little fuss as possible. They entered and made for the nearest orphanage to the border, which was still over 100 miles. Rowan was nervous in a guarding way, we was still a body guard, and heading into an area such as this went against all his training, however it was her wish, as his superior and wife. Reana was nervous almost in a childlike way, though she was sobered up quite a bit after passing some of the destruction from a long dead skermish in a small town.
They arrived at the town with little ado, making their way to the orhanage, which though not extravagant in any way, Rowan made sure it was not so depressing in condition that Reana would want to take them all home.
They entered and talked with the head person, a friendly but stern badger lady, and decided to watch them when they came out for their playtime.
When they did a mass assortment of little furs came out with much screaming and laughing into the yard, numbering about 55 or so.
As Reana leaned forward in the window they were watching from Rowan remarked in a joking kind of way,
"Now remember, you can only take home one."
She just gives him a look and goes back to watching for the right one.
After some watching, she focuses in on a little girl fennec fox, sitting out to one side playing in the dirt by herself. She was adorable with her huge ears she had not quite grown into as much as she would and looked about 4 or 5 years old.
Reana remarked, "Aww...look at that little one, she looks so lonely over there."
The head tendant says, "Yes, she was from a small town, arrived here right after all the fighting started. We aren't sure what happened to her family, but we also haven't heard any from anyone from that town. It was a water collecting town in the south, it was shelled to destroy the water source which was the only other one in the region by one of the local dictators to make the people dependant on his source. It's amazing she made it out and all the way here, if she were anything but a desert fox she wouldn't have made it long at all."
Reana's and Rowan's faces nit together in a mix of anger and pity, "That's terrible" Rowan replies.
Reana, "Aww....Rowan, we have to take her, she's so lonely."
Rowan, "Yes, I agree, she must have someone to take care of her."
They then arranged a meeting with the little girl who's name is Mara. They talk, though Mara does not talk much back, and Reana and Rowan explain where they live, what they do, and how they want to take her in.
Mara absorbes all this and asks one question, "You aren't going to leave are you? Mom and Dad left to go fix the water and didn't come back."
Reana, "No dear, we wont ever leave you if you want."
Mara, "Okay"
Reana goes over and picks her up in her arms and they turn to head to the office when they here a voice, a sinister one filled with malice,
"Oh, how sweet."
They turn around to see, Sicarii.

Their eye's meet the dreaded form that they despise the most, his fur has turned to black, likely a side affect of the Morning Star he stole, and his eye's match the darkness outside and within. It is hard to tell where his pitch black fur stops and the cloak he wears starts, as they are almost exactly the same color.
Reana gasps and Rowan screams, "Demon, DIE!"
He lunges at him with increadible speed, forming his blue energy blade mid-lunge, aiming to slice the terror in two.
Sicarii however, sidesteps and grabs the sword wielding arm, breaking the thrice strengthened bones with one strike to his elbow, and all with un-mortal speed, lifts him up by his broken arm and lays a kick to his chest, cracking ribs, and sending him back flying where he came from.
Once they realize what happend, this is met by the screams of Reana, Mara, and the Administrator.
Sicarii, as if nothing had ever happened, responds with a voice that can only be described as dark,
"Now, that was un-called for. I'm just here to protect my interests, and attain one more piece of my revenge..."
Mara goes clinging to the Administrator's leg and Reana is at Rowan's side, beginning to panic, knowing how badly he was hurt.
Rowan tries to rise, "Basta......uhh..."
He passes from the pain, the likes of which Raja are not supposed to have to feel.
Reana half screams, "What do you want?!"
Sicarii only grins and replies, "Oh, from you nothing really, I just want you to leave here, and you can even take your little guard there....."
Reana's face lights up with a bit of hope only to be dashed by his next words,
"...but you have to leave the girl."
Reana's eye's widen, flashing back and forth between her husband, and the little girl she had just promised never to leave. The conflict tormented her mind, and Sicarii sensing it, grins.
