The republic is split into five distinct sections of government; The Crown, The House, The Court, The People, and Wisdom. All sections have wide ranging powers, and can each take control of events as easily as the others. The Crown acts as the general executive branch, making general decisions and handling international events. It incorporates the military, whose primary effort is police force. The House is the legislator, either drafting or passing bills. It directs its intentions to the other branches to carry out, with the power to declare war or other emergency states. The Court is the main interpreter of the laws, setting and recording precedent. It handles the bureaucracy, and has some minor police power. Wisdom is the collection of scientist, analyst, and investigators which provide information and advice to all sections of government. The last section, the People, is composed of those not elected to any office. They retain the powers to create offices, elect officials to their offices and remove them if they believe they no longer represent, or are no longer working for the benefit of the people, except in the case of Court officials.
Society:
The people of Nareamat have been the subject of upheaval and abuse for several generations, only recently settling in to a hopefully well gained and restful freedom. Each province has its own customs and rituals, but several features remain common throughout. The current and outgoing generations are highly independent and persistent activist, knowledge is valued slightly higher than skill, and each citizen has a strong sense of justice. Religion is relatively unheard of, though not withheld; Seventy percent claim to follow the general morals and principles of Inierism, but ninety percent of those also say they follow more in the spirit of the philosophy than its word.
Technology:
Naraemat is a newly industrialized country, fueled by its government supported economic dominance of biological research and development. It’s a common practice develop or alter plants for specific purposes, genetic disorders are treated easily, and chemical weapons are frequently used by the military. In recent times, the ability to combine separate genetic structures into a workable species was explored and successfully done on a large scale, mostly by the people for cosmetic reasons. Most comfort technologies found in other nations have yet to reach common status.
History:
The Republics origins date back five hundred years, when nations around the Endless Grassland area began vigorous political activity against each other. Frequent wars and subterfuge between the small states led to quick skirmishes for power for local rulers. The people, eventually being dissatisfied with the constant conflict, simultaneously overthrew the barons, who were weak from their activities, and formed a loose federation. After rising inflation and executive inability, the federation formed together to elect a king and further increase the power of offices to help get things back on track. After electing and consequentially deposing several ‘Kings’, the people created several checks to the king and divided his powers in the form of several branches of government. Fearing that the other branches may abuse their power the same way, the Republic evolved into practically five separate governments, ending in the bureaucracy chocked, socially minded morass it is today.
