The electoral commission realizing that and election had to be called in the up coming weeks decided that, for once, they would get a head on their work. Normally it was mass panic when elections had been called in the pre-unification nations as none of them had fixed terms so elections could be called at anytime. A simple vote of parliament to dissolve itself was all that was needed in most cases, this was true of the commonwealth parliament as well. Once the act of dissolution was passed the election would take place on the new moon after next. So everything had to be in place with in a maximum of just under nine weeks* and a minimum of just over four.
But as the parliament currently sitting was close to it's maximum five year term one had to be called soon. Well within the next six weeks.
The electoral commission was had it's head quarters in the inteerie town of slainie, a wet and smelly place. Inteer was famous for two things, whiskey and waste management, it was well, a bog. Most people thought that the whiskey had been created to make life here bearable and most of the population tended to spend their time oblivious when possible. You couldn't really blame them.
It didn't help that the place had changed hands uncountable times over the eons. The locals always wondered why anyone would want the place, they didn't. The thing was both Teer and Teu claimed the place, but both sides had long forgotten what they were infact fighting over. Currently it was part of teer and teer's only mainland prescience...not that it mattered now. The other fact was even the teuie were not sure why they wanted it back, just that they did. The local preferred being part of teer despite them being vulpine so should prefer being with the vulpine teuie. But in truth they had never really cared much either way.
But the fact of the matter was this smelly, boggy, wet little crap hole was the home to the mechanics of the commonwealths democracy.
A meeting was underway:
"Right call in observers?"
"Can't see the harm."
"Always good to let the rest of the planet know we ain't corrupt."
"So agreed?"
"Yip."
"Yip."
"Aye."
"Canny see a prob."
"Right to the next issue...where the hell are we putting the polling stations in the new city?"

A message was sent from the commission:
Greetings
We openly request observers to ensure all is above board in the up coming election. We have no history of wide spread electoral fraud but prefer to ensure the elections we are responsible for are as clean and fair as possible.
If you wish to send observers please furnish with the information requested below. But not we are only a facilitating body and apolitical, thus only concern ourself with the mechanics of the election. Those of a political persuasion would be better contacting one of the parties or individuals involved in this election.
