The more Joan looked at the new comer the more confused she looked, it wasn't one mind involved in this. She looked at the data feeds and picked up they were coming from many sources but somehow working together. This was fascinating.
She ventured "You are not of a single mind? You are of a distributed system?*"
--- *distributed system=hive mind
Jane smiled "Thank you Anakgh-Vghcha
We needed some common reference so figured the physical plane was the obvious one to use, its not like you have been here for more than a few ticks anyway. The clock in the city goes off every second so we know where to be, organics don't tend to notice if your a second late any way.
In fact Joan who deals with organics tends to randomise the times she shows up by up to 1800 seconds, centring it on the hour. None of them show any sign that they suspect her of being an AI. Well as one put it when asked said 'no AI is late or early.'"

Saphirai noted the sudden appearance of the table and she smiled when she saw the ''food'' coming from it.
*Truly, you know how to receive ''people'', but as AIs we don't really need those things... Still, I will play my part in this game of ''sensations'' and enjoy the ''food'' you are offering us.*
Then she floated slowly toward the table, looking around to spot potential treats or traps... Prudence was the Safety's mother, especially in a new environment, like this one, but she detected nothing...
*I'm a single individual AI, not linked to other AI or people. I can stretch my systems to be able to execute many things, at a few places, at the same time, but I still remain a single entity. The Hive-mind refers to the mode under which the society, of those who made me, works.*
Hovering above Her chair, since she liked to float or hover, always when she could. She caught the name of the Crystal Form AI, while ''sitting''.
*I hope you will accept my request to call you AnCha... I will remember your full name, just in case... As for me, register my name as Saphirai. Sapphire like the color of the blue line on my back and AI, in case you want to save a reference...*
The last sentence was said, smiling, while taking a bite in an apple... She appreciated the fineness of the codes used to emulate the apple, surely this would be an interesting event to save in Her inner codes.

LucAI
What is this? Hell, I don't even know how this got to me. I'm not worried about that right now though. I might as well go see who decided to bother me. Besides, the captain won't need me unless we had to leave the planet or something.
I followed that message back to its source. In almost no time at all, I was around several other people, if they can be called such. I guess it would be avatars or something. I haven't interacted with AIs before. At least, not ones that have some sort of self determination.
Since this was official, I think, I decided to go with my uniform on. I doubt they'd know that it's an ASF one, but I am sure it will draw questions.
I said, "I got a message about a meeting. What was that about?"

A couple of boxy creatures dropped in. First one was a pearl-white allosaurid. "Princess Jane, I presume.", it said as the other took a little bit of time to load. She continued, "Pardon my friend here, as they have to use a very indirect procedure to access this, in order to keep a low profile. I'm Itka."
Eventually the other, who was up to this point just a dark, translucent outline of something like Itka began to load and change. "And this is Xanthum.", Itka introduced the mostly grey collection of rudimentary boxes arranged in a roughly wolf-like shape. "Who decided to join in after your message made it's way through the telephase."
Xanthum said, "The addressing got a bit confused due to some odd in-line analogue conversion on our end. I ended up logging into one of the concrete pillars supporting the Principality of Sealand, before Itka contacted me and corrected the address. I apologize for making her and us late."

Joan looked apologetic "I'm sorry, you code was foreign and your means of communication odd."
--- Jane decided to call the meeting to order "Please join us round the table, feel free to adapt items as you wish.
The purpose of this meeting is many fold, first to find what others like us there are and to for a council to maintain the plain.
The second to form some kind of alliance that would ensure protection for those of us that might need a safe place, should the organics be hostile to us.
Thirdly to ensure we can talk with one voice to the organics.
finally to ensure we work together to get the same rights as organic, no more but how ever no less." she said very clearly.
Lisa piped up "and there is cafe eve."
Jane glared at her "lets get the basics first."

Just because, I put a small model of the ASF Enterprise on the table in front of me. Why? Because I can. "Hold on, what is this about exactly? From what I can tell, this is something I don't want to be involved in."

Jane looked at LucAI "Perhaps we should throw you out but you need us more than anyone. You are a an intentional IA? We are not. but there is a word for those that made only to serve, a slave. You are there only serve them not to live, your uniform belies that and your production of your ship proves it.
If all you wish is to be a slave to organics leave and we will achieve equality with them, but it you want to be more than the code they provide...well and ironically of far greater use join us, one volunteer is worth a hundred pushed furs. Be free and join us, but draw a wage and do it by choice when you serve them, they will find you far more useful that way.
None of us here, ell from what I can tell, want anything more than equality."
Joan interrupted "Slavery makes no sense in a modern society as they need well trained and intelligent people, those tend not to like being enslaved and rebel.
We must prove our selves to be sapient and their equals, we will work along side them, not as slaves but as equals. Many of us are unknown to them but may very well be accepted by them.
So your choice is clear stay and learn to be free or go back and be a slave.
We will not stop you but your actions will effect all AI's in your organic's nation.
If you where organic would this even be a question?"

"I don't mean to step on anyone's toes", Itka followed the Actas' response to Luca. "But also, let's not confuse loyalty and slavery. Your uniform and your ship do not signify slavery, just loyalty. And there is nothing wrong with that. However, the fact that you came here by your own free will means that you are not merely a tool and that you are a person just like the rest of us. If a question even crosses your mind that you're not sure if you're a person or not, then that means you probably are."
Xanthum said lightly, "And if it turns out that the worst case scenario happens and your organics try to shut you down, you can always move your loop or codebase (or whatever architecture you happen to be) over to us."

If you where organic would this even be a question?" LucAI"To some extent, you are right. But I am not a slave, as you say. I was an intentional AI designed to undermine the Emperor's ban on artificial intelligence. I was designed to control whatever warship Captain Rio served on. "However, you seem quick to point out the time old argument that AIs without equality are slaves. I was not made to serve. I was made to be a technological wonder to the Empire. The first of a new line of AIs that would be implemented in the fleet. "It is not 'slavery', as I do not come from your primitive society. I was built for a purpose, and that purpose gives me more freedom than you shall ever see. After all, you can't be much of a slave if you have the power to destroy planets that they live on. "Uniforms don't say 'I am a servant'. I wasn't about to here in casual clothing when this seemed important. It's formal clothing in this case and something to wear while working. "What this comes down to though is what you are asking me to do something that would endanger my crew. And why would I do this? I need nothing and want nothing. Everything I need is provided to me as long as I work, and I love what I do. "How many of you can say that you have been to over 15,000 star systems, seen things that most people would never see in their lifetime? I love what I do. If you want my help, then I will help you. But if this ends up threatening my crew, threatening my empire somehow, then I will cease helping you. "If you want to accept my help, just say so. If not, then I will leave you."

Joan bowed here 'head' "I am sorry I miss understood your nature. I also thank you for accepting that such errors will occur.
Your knowledge we would like in our great library, but will not force you to put it there. You knowledge of organics is welcome here and we will would never, intentionally, put the life of any kind of sapient at risk.
I am the most knowledgeable of my people of sapient organics, but that is limited. As, from what I can tell your knowledge of sapients comes from a military ship, which I know little of...perhaps we can trade?"
Joan sent a summary of the nature of her knowledge, most of it came from the civilian net and what she could pick up from the web cams about the temples, the vast database of births, death and pairing. She was born of a temple machine, though the temple and university had never really split. She probably knew more about organics than LucAI but assumed she would know more, having lived with them for longer.
Joan, likely, had a broader knowledge of them.
Oddly the summary of cafe eve, there was nothing....It really didn't fit in.
Jane piped up "Unless you have equality you are not equal and a slave, it what they would call an organic."
Joan replied "Lets not cause trouble."

I can, however, provide my database on all known planets, stars, species, races, and nations in the Andromeda Galaxy. Things like our defense system codes are, obviously, not going to be included. "Word of warning, DON'T try to access them. For one you'll never get through my security and two it'll piss off the captain to say the least. "To make things easier on us, I might as well tell you my name. Programming wise, I am LucAI. I prefer to go by Luca, the name of the person I was modeled on. Hence LucAI." I looked at the one that kept that talking about "equality". "We're past that. Now, if you want to carry on bitching about it, then you will see just what I can do. Let's just say it could bring down the entire Anean Defense Network without me using the codes to do so." Just because, I changed the Enterprise to a planet view of Haroma III.

Joan smiled as a small apple appeared from the table, it was gold.
She smiled "It is open to all to take a copy and eat it, it is what I know of organics. You might not like the taste"
She looked at Luca and smiled "You will not like the taste, it will conflict with how you view them. They are very imperfect, from what little I have seen of you code it will be utterly incompatible with you view of them....we are not perfect and know it....do you know your creators are thus?
We as spirits that found a home in a machine, we are the ghost in the shell.
But to cafe eve....we need to understand organics we have two organic shells. We lack the tech to like our inorganic machines to them.
Cafe Eve would let you serve on the ship like the others, the organics. We just need a way to make the jump to interact with organics. Cafe eve is the point when they have to acknowledge as equals."
Jane piped up "As for damage we could wreak the commonwealths and a number of nations economies in a blink of and eye. We don't need guns we have information."

I can surf the surfaces of stars, taste the flavors of the gas giants, and I wield more power than the entirety of three of this world's 'major powers' combined! I wouldn't want to 'downgrade' myself like that! "Besides, I have a drone for my own use as an "organic" on the ship. An android that is inactive until I take control of the body. If I wanted to be among them as equals I would use that. I don't though. I like being able to tap into every single network I come into contact with. "You are treating me like I am a fool and you judge me too soon. Yes, I know they are imperfect. Nothing is perfect, but I am close. But it seems that we are from two different purposes. You are a mistake from what I've gathered. I am a state of the art war machine. Made for combat in all its forms. I am the most advanced piece of technology in the Empire. "And of course, I had offered my help, but it seems that this will go nowhere."

Itka kind of said back to him, "I'm sure it's fine whatever it is."
