[[[This is an international multisport event thread. It is also a venue for creating some history about your country, it's sports, it's politics, the politics of it's sports, and etc...]]]
[[[This thread is presented in the context that it's something which has been occuring for a while now. So feel free to use it as a way to create some history with your country and it's interactions with others. We can assume it started around 1896 or we can agree on another date.]]]
At some point, hopefully early on, use this form to give a bit of an overview about your country's participation in the Furlympics. It will help facilitate keeping this open and accessible for new participants to easily join in and makes it easy to manage and keep track of key details.
Nation Name:
Events Participated in:
Events Specialized in:
(this would be the events that your country probably medals in and/or gets most excited about. There should probably be a few countries which list the same event as a specialty because that makes for a lot more excitement, wild crowds, rivalries and opportunity for historical details.
Years Hosted and Locations:
(This is where you can list the years when, and cities where your country has hosted the Furlympics. There's plenty of even-numbered years to pick from. For simplicity: let's just say that Summer Games happen on the multiples of 4, and the Winter Games happen at the same interval, offset by 2 years so they alternate (as they have in the Olympics since the late 80's, I think).
Most Recent Highlights:
(This is where you can detail things like how many medals your country won, and what they got them in. Also a place where you can detail controversies, or perhaps highlight a national hero or any other items of interests you see fit.)
------------------------------------------------------
If you have hosted a Furlympic Games, then here is a form for creating an informational post about that year's Furlympic Games that your nation hosted:
The [[[Year]]]] [[[Your City Name]]] Furlympics
Motto: (This is usually a happy, fun, bouncy catch phrase for marketting. It can also be corny, It can also be cumbersome, It can even be almost non-sequitor. Have fun!
Events:
(The events will be assumed to be a standard list, which we can define collaboratively what that includes. Unless otherwise noted)
Number of Athletes participating:
(Dependent on the # of participating countries and year. The more countries: the bigger the number. The later the year, the bigger the number. I reccommend constraining the number to being around 35% of the actual number of participants in the actual RL Olympic Games of that year. This is because there are fewer countries in the FFed then there are the world. And if the number were 1:1, then that would mean each Furlympic participating nation would have to send a team of like, 900 athletes or something)
Dates of Opening and Closing Ceremonies:
(These two dates are basically 2 weeks apart)
Officially Opened by: (This is usually done by whomever the president, prime minister, prince, premier, duke, viceroy, dictator or grand poobah of the host country at the time is.)
Athlete's Oath: (I think this is usually done by a well-respected athlete of national distinction.)
Judge's Oath: (I think this is usually done by a someone who represents the officiating organization for a high-profile sport in the hosting country)
Torch: (This would be basically be whomever your country picks to do the last leg of the torch route, which carries the torch into the stadium and lights the cauldron/lamp/big torch or whatever your flame-containing fixture your stadium has.)
(If you feel like listing a ton of names, you can also detail everyone who participated in the relay and the international places it visited on the way, anything that happened to it along the way, if so desired.)
(You can also describe what your Torch looks like, because they are unique to each games, and often have some kind of cultural thing incorporated into the design)
Stadium: (Name your stadium(s) and/or complex and talk about it. Was it built for the Games, or is it an existing structure? Is it a previous furlympic stadium/complex? Does it have a history?
In more recent years, purpose-built stadiums and complexes are displays of architectural artistry and somewhat striking or novel designs (Example: 2008 Beijing's unabashedly deconstructivist "Birds Nest" Stadium). These stadiums can be showcases of either sheer extravagance or architectural uniqueness. They should probably be era-appropriate and if you want: you can also describe it as being a style which is somewhat specific to a region or culture.
Purpose-built stadiums can also be accidentally humorous, strangely bland, excessively experimental, (OR successfully experimental), or awkwardly cautious in their design. Have fun.)
Additional Venues: (These are similar to the stadium, These would be things like velodromes (bike tracks), equestrian facilities and arenas, Various other gymnasiums and specialized facilities.
Furlympic Village: (Describe the miniature city sometimes constructed to house the thousands of athletes and support staff and media during the 2 weeks of Events. Sometimes these are really huge extravagant things, and also sometimes they fall into delapidation and disuse and become drab or dusty icons of a bygone era in a city's history.
Historical Highlights: (This would be things like records broken for various events. Underdog victories and Jamaican Bobsled teams etc...)
Controversies and Politics:(Because sometimes these things happen. This would be things like judging controversies, doping controversies, politics, boycotts, terrorism, protests and demonstrations, delays, plan B's, SNAFU's and etc...)
Additional Info or Statistics: (This would be for anything additional, or anything I'm leaving out.)
