Cranan Su (Southern Cross) airport is now nearing completion, the airport is in fact the upgraded Asylum regional airport. It boasts two exceptionally long heavy duty runways capable of taking most, if not all, wide body jets, a smaller runway for lighter air craft and space for airships to be moored (should this be required, putting up masts would not be a major problem). It's terminals can handle most aircraft though odder designs will have to state their nature so that the gates can be adapted.
It's location means that it has clear skies, both in the way of aircraft and weather, and can operate 24/7, being far enough away from the city of Asylum that noise is not an issue. But it is close enough that it's high speed rail link to Solum Street station links it into the high speed rail network of the south east of the region. The near by Cranan Su port allows for various fuels to be brought in for airliners that require exotic and unusual fuel. The sealed freight trains mean that there is no tax to be paid as the fuel does not 'enter' the commonwealth. The same is true of freight and passengers should they be transferring to a sea going craft.
It is open to all air lines with the proviso that they the aircraft used are civilian and unarmed (though missile countermeasures are allowed). The nearby airbase provides the airport with security (Note: The Commonwealth's Royal Air-force do not require an order to shot down any aircraft they view as a threat, but they have to explain why the hell they did it and better have had a damn good reason.(Due to the pre-commonwealth nations tendency to attempt to wipe each others fleets/air forces in surprise attacks, the delay involved in getting orders could mean the difference between victory and defeat)).
Any aircraft not following air traffic control's direction is likely to get a visit from the RAF and asked in no uncertain terms what the hell they think they are playing at. Hijackers that are stupid enough to land in the air port will have the tiers of the air craft shot out and receive a visit from special forces (Though the commonwealth does not have a death penalty, the average life expectancy of a hijacker on landing is measured in hours to minutes as the special forces are not big on taking prisoners). Then again hijacking a air craft full of commonwealth subjects is suicidal as the odds are they are probably better armed than you are and don't take well to people pulling that kind of thing (to the level that if you do try it and get killed, the cause of death is likely to be put down a suicide).
One of the unusual aspects of the airport is that only one terminal has a land side, the rest are viewed as entirely air side. That and the fact that it is possible to check your luggage at major rail stations thanks to an agreement with the CMT (the mutual that runs the commonwealth's high speed rail network).
Currently there are four terminals nearing completion.
Terminal One: Airlines flying to other parts of the region.
Terminal Two: Charter and infrequent users of the airport.
Terminal Three: Scheduled Air Lines.
Terminal Four: High security for use by airlines that require higher security than is normally expected of an airport however the use of this terminal comes at a premium. For an additional fee airlines from nations with higher than normal security requirements can base a small number of their own security personnel to ensure that the security level required is enforced.
Terminal Five: Internal flights and customs. This is the only terminal not to be viewed as entirely air side and the only entrance to the commonwealth (anyone not transiting has to go through this terminal to "enter" the commonwealth, though thy may have flown into another terminal.).
Terminal Six: Aruo Teerie (this is the hub airport for Aruo teerie and they own a good chunk of it).
Royal Mail Postal Terminal: Used by the commonwealth's mail* and for light freight (< 5 tones, No weapons or explosives).
Heavy And Specialist Freight: For use of air craft carrying heavy and/or unusual cargo.
High Security Freight: For use by aircraft carrying valuable and/or sensitive cargoes (gold, weapons, valuable cultural artefacts, explosives, etc). Note: ammunition/power sources/etc must be transported separately from weapons they are for.
Slots will be assigned on a first come first served basis and the earlier they are claimed the cheaper they are and transit between terminals can be carried out without 'entering' the commonwealth as an air side underground rail link is in place.

* OOC: Another thread is in the making there.
OOC: This thread will either snowball or fall flat, in the prior case please post if you wish to increase your slot count, reviewing the thread continuously would be a pain.
OOC: Future Tech people dropping out of hyperspace/what ever in the air lanes, that would cause a nightmare for air traffic control.
OOC: All FF airlines will be assigned to terminal 1 unless a request is made to use terminal 4.
