I almost forgot about it. No I didn't! I just became VERY SICK the week I would have normally posted this yes
Every year I start a new film festival thread:
Here's how it works: (from last year's instructions)
You can post films as replies. You can post as many as you want, (as long as it's within reason) but make sure that you only have one film per reply. In the reply be sure to put the name of the film, the nation from where it came (where the film would have been distributed first), the genre or format (be as technical as you like), and most importantly, a description or synopsis of the film. If you feel particularly creative, you can even write an extensive visual description of the major scenes, or whatever. This is very open-ended. Go ahead and have fun!]]]

Pargalo: The House of Dykon[/u] Director: Robert Skullways Screenwritter: Omulkimo Nation of Origin: Tinis Genre: Dramatized Documentary Release Date: 12/21/07 Length: 201 minutes Language: Tinisian Format: Color, aspect ratio 2.35:1
Synopsis:[/u] The second film in Skullways' Pargalo series is about the life of Dykon, eventual founder of a house by the same name. It follows his early life in an abusive family, his running away to the city of Zarx, and his entrance into the local street gangs there in. When the revolution happens a series of events propel the young wolf to become leader of the lupine and ursine populations of the city and eventually to forming with his followers, the first house of Pargalo.
Plot:[/u] Dykon (Meltus Gwa) can't get a break. Forced to work long hours along his father at a rural mill during the day, and forced to wash and clean at night by his very strict mother, he dreams of escaping his life. When his father breaks his tail and is forced to not work for a week, Dykon ends up filling his father's shifts. When on the last night of doing this he almost looses his life as a machine collapses through the mill ceiling, Dykon decides that this is no way to live. In the confusion of the incident he vanishes, leaving planted evidence to make it seem like he was killed by the falling machinery to fool anyone whom would chase after him for at least a few days.
Dykon reaches the city of Zarx and vows to start a new life. But as there's no work in the city he is forced to steal to survive, eventually falling in with the gang the 'Dark Regulars'. Fast forward a few years to an older Dykon (now played once more by Henry Shanes), who's a very capable enforcer for the Dark Regulars. When a rival gang, the Twisted Nines, attempts to move in on the territory of the Dark Regulars, Dykon takes up urban combat and battles with them for a time. Eventually he confronts the ursine head of the Twisted Nines, Metchag Ra (Minmoo Lawg) to personal combat and comes out victorious. Jealous, the head of the Dark Regulrs, Meltanio (Ulgar Twant), tries to kill Dykon, but his attempts are revealed and Dykon kills Meltanio. Seeing his abilities as a combatant, both gangs swear allegiance to Dykon.
During the start of the revolution, the gangs help the rebels to disrupt the authorities and to help keep those out on the street out of harms way. The ranks of Dykon's Guild, the name of the new gang, swell. The gang is mostly wolves and bears still though, and often times helps those of that species preferentially. When the brief dictatorship period begins though, Dykon's Guild is forced into hiding, often moving into the sewers of Zarx. When the end of the brief dictatorship period is ending, Dykon leads his group to distract what is left of the Pargalonian army, including burning down the main barracks while a few hundred soldiers were still inside. Upon the death of General Kizik, Dykon declares victory and has his group seize most of the city. They are successful at stabilizing the city, but in doing so forced many 'undesirables' out, including most non-carnivore-leaning species and felines. All the same, this success at establishing power has Dykon invited to the meeting of the seven new leaders, and ends up being the first to claim rulership of a 'house'.
The last hour of the movie show cases the interactions and goings on of the houses with respect to Dykon's. The brash youth has turned into a powerful warrior, and is rarely beaten in personal combat. The leaders of the other houses, again played by the same actors as they were in the House of Genius (Genius-Alia Zantoni, Izixs-Illix Ilkan, Epshar Hon-Galius Markos Donza, Toson Mlavis-Randy Sume, Wune Alcansir-Ocmin Balshir, and Major Jirie-Vincent Sim), make the rounds fighting Dykon. Wune Alcansir, Major Jirie, and Izixs are often harsh in their conversations with Dykon during their battles and arguments, Genius treats him with disdain, while Epshar Hon and Toson Mlavis treat him with quiet respect. Slowly Dykon's house looses the lands around Zarx and other areas they had acquired as Dykon's lieutenants are unable to compete with Major Jirie in personal combat. Finally, Jirie challenges Dykon for control of Zarx itself after defeating Ilt Shimi (Margol). The climatic battle ends with Dykon loosing his left eye.
The end of the movie has a much more quiet and reserved Dykon coming to the island of Forr. Still greatly feared by the fleeing houses, he's never challenged again. Dizmrad Chamblak (Ratooli Maxatraskardram) convinces Dykon to agree to a federation of the houses on the main land. Dykon regains some of his lost fire when he realizes salvation could be had for himself and his people. But a condition is made that he must leave his leadership position if his very combative house is to be a part of it. Dykon agrees and leads his house deep into the forests of Butin before leaving, wandering off into the mountains to the south.
Highlighted Scene:
"Tell me sewer dog, did you take pleasure in killing your pack leader?" an armor covered Wune said as the two wolves circle each other, blades drawn. "Or were you eager to become alpha and get your own set of pup!" Wune struck out at Dykon whom easily dodged.
"You talk to much. Keep it up and you'll out do that long mouthed skunk."
Wune shook his head. "I'll be out doing her, myself before to long."
Dykon shook his head. "You lust after skunks? How sick!" The larger wolf swung his glave like weapon towards the older wolf, whom blocks it with his wide blade. "Next you'll be telling me you drink their sp..." Wune kicked the staff portion of Dykon's weapon and lunged at him.
Dykon quickly punched Wune in the face, knocking the older wolf on his tail. "You are a pitiful creature Wune. And your nose is bleeding."
"Wune sniffed. This is your last victory gutter trash! In a week you'll be nothing by your precious city. Then Jirie will challenge you again."
"Well, maybe I should make it a death match then. Get out of here you worthless mutt! Ulpack bridge is ours again!" Dykon yelled, kicking at his defeated opponent.
