After seeing an interesting post by Ciata about terra forming a desert, it makes me wonder where we at in terms of technology and/or 'magic'. I always thought we was contemporary technology with suble magical undertones.. but wherever I look, I cannot find any official statement. So, I'll just ask right now... in poll form.

This is an interesting question. I'm building space platforms and such, but most of that is still clasified for all you know. ^^ I haven't seen alot of magical stuff, but i'm not keeping up with all the IC events... >>

I was actually thinking about that recently myself. There are definatly some contemporary elements, some sci-fi elements here and there and some fantastic elements. But I think its all good in the end, provided each nation is self consistent and interactions between wildly different elements are handled intelligently. What happens for instance when a Raja Borah encounters a robot or a robot encountering a tank or a tank encountering a demon? But I've been a big fan of mixed generes for a while and am really interested in how some can interact. However, in order to have an enjoyable time here, we have to not be having a tech/ability/what ever for the simple purpose of one upping everyone else. Nothing is an 'I win' button. And really, with wider elements from a variety of techs/magics, it becomes difficult to win against everything in a contest, at least logically. But provided it doesn't go to extreme to quickly into any one direction in tech/magic, I say its all good. But as far as technology goes, if you come up with an idea for an advanced device, I can easily be someone to bounce ideas off of to determine if tech X is even possible in some fashion. I know my nation's PDS is stretching it a bit, but basically I can justify it using consitencies in sub-atomic physics and the like combined with the natural growth of computer technology. Oh, just FYI, in case your wondering about my credentials in these regards, I'm about 4 weeks away from a degree in physics. But yeah, we're here to have fun. I'd suggest maybe coming up with one or two particular things/items/ideas that your country is exceptionally good at and can be related to your society as to why this is the case. In Tinis, knowledge and learning are highly valued. The PDS relies on knowing things, basically using quantumn mechanics to know too much about incoming projectiles into the PDS feild. When that happens, crazy uncertainties abound, and a couple teakes later, you got yourself a PDS. And the knowing things also goes into the computer system that basically runs it. And for the Tinis airships, I just think their neat. Okay, I think I've rambled enough.

PDS = Pattern Defense System. One is usuable by Shikeishuu to protect the entire region from out side invasions or out of character, to use region password control. The other is used by my government in emergency situations such as if TInis was ever under nuclear attack or about to be invaded by a majorly huge force. Basically its an energy sheild dealie but it has only been tested extensively for conventional weapons so I'm leaving it up in the air for weather a nuke or something unusual can take it down at this point. We'll figure that out in character.
(perhaps a lot of furs surrounding it and each poking it at the same time...)
