Public statement by Vylland President:
The Government of Vylland has decided to strengthen our relationship with the region by constructing a new embassy in the area of the Federation Council Hall. The existing facility is no longer adiquate to handle the demand of diplimatic and economic coordination with the other nations. If no nations object to this, planning shall commense immediately.
---
Ambasador K'Atyl has been pleased with the news, and the prospect of more Vyls. As well as coordinating the international side of the project, she has made it clear that anyone who wishes to discuss the new embassy is encouraged to do so - the address of the rented office-space that is the existing embassy is well-known, as are the contact details for her secretary to arrange an appointment.

OOC: I have decided to take more of a role here, now I am more familiar with the forum.

(Open thread, BTW)
Preperations for the new construction are underway now - a site has been found near the Hall, surveyers from Vyl have visited - much to the amusement of the nearby residents - and sent back information to the architects. The completed moderately-sized building will have sufficient capacity for the medium-term future. Some houses in the area are also being modified for Vyl occupation - this is mostly a simple matter of adjusting the shape of the stairs and replaceing some fittings.
(In about a week I will be going on holiday for two weeks. This is a good time for construction. Still no replys?)

TO: Ambasador K'Atyl of Vylland FROM: Secretary of State Waldo of Tinis SUBJECT: Embassy
I was delighted to hear of your current work to establish an embassy in Altzan near the council hall. Though the obvious proximity of Altzan to Tinis, since until the recently passed resolution, Altzan was technically Tinisian territory, removes the pressing need for a larger Tinis office or full scale embassy, I would like to see other nations establish embassys as you are doing, in order to expand the potential for diplomatic activities. More discussion can occur than what occurs at the council hall. And Altzan is an ideal neutral ground for meetings with nations from outside the Furry Federation.
As for objections and the like, since the Furry Federation council is effectively the only soverign body overseeing Altzan, any objections would have to come in the form of council resolutions. Current Tinisian law is in effect in Altzan until the council changes determines otherwise, however, under the technical circumstances of the situation, the laws involving establishment of an embassy do not apply because Altzan is no longer under Tinisian control. So an embassy is perfectly legal, and I'd say encouraged.

The embassy is complete, and staff have arrived - some local, some moving in from Vylland. Accomodation has been built with appropriately shaped furnature. The process of moving functions to the new facility is underway, and all that remains is the opening ceremony. Ambassador K'Atyl will be cutting the ribbon in two days - a general invitation has been extended for any who wish to attend.
Many vylbirds have been wandering the corridoors of embassies and the council hall, making preperations and confirming guests. Many of them use portable translators - there have been some strange misunderstandings from their attempts to translate from a language with no gender-specific pronouns, but nothing serious.

He is lodged in a hotel in the area, with a small complement of advisors, a few close freinds, and stragely, a survayor, as well as the standerd acompanyment of body guards.

*K'Atyl stands behind the podium, on which rest the ceremonial sissors and the array of microphones found at any important media event. Important guests stand under a weather screen, while less impostant guests and media stand to the sides - to the rear, camera-operators broadcast the event. Her speech is given in the Vyl language - a modestly-sized screen to one side shows a running translation.*
"First, let me welcome you all officially to the opening and say how pleased I am personally to see so many.
"With the opening of the first perminant embassy in this region, Vyl shall see the start of improved cooperation and coordination with its neighbours in trade, law enforcement, military, communications and infrastructure, and many other areas. Together with the rest of the Federation, we can now start to achieve the ideals with which the country was created - to work with other cultures and species peacefully for mutual benefit.
"There have many serious incidents in this region recently, and this embassy symbolises the intent of Vyl to assist in any way it can should problems arise in the future."
*With this she takes the sissors and cuts the ribbon over the open embassy doors. The guests trickle in through a final security check to inspect, discuss and give interviews.*

A badger with a microphone grabs Waldo's attention before shoving a microphone with the letters TPB on it into the raccoon's face.
"Secretary of State, I'm Faydres Giles with Tinis P.B., any thoughts on today's events?"
"Well," replies Waldo, half trying to pay attention to two other conversations. "I'd have to say this is a historic event. To think less than a year ago this very land was the burnt out remains of a factory and now its one of what I hope to be many embassays in this city."
"Sir, what about Altzan's proximity to the Shimandu boarder? Are there still security concerns?"
"Of course. But our military and police are working round the clock to ensure the safety of this city, the council hall, and the surrounding territory as if this was still Tinisian soil. So I don't think we have anything to worry about."
The badger asks one more question. "But what about the representatives themselves? Is there any threat of another incident such as the one you had with Reana Stormwake? Or perhaps a more malevolant action on the part of a foreign ambassador?"
Waldo gives the reporter a confused look. "Are you insinuating that Mrs. Stormwake's actions were an intentional assualt on my person?"
"Not at all."
"It certainly sounds like it. Everyone knows the score. I don't think we should be worrying about slight chemical imbalances which won't occur again when we have mad furs and insurgents running around causing havoc. And I'm quite ashamed that you Mr. Giles would insult our hosts and Ambasador K'Atyl in such an obvious fashion, not to mention the rest of the Furry Federation. Now leave me alone and think about the disservice you have served Tinis tonight." Waldo narrows his eyes at the reporter.
The badger pauses for a second. "Thank you Secretary."
