I have said before that I have a novel I am writing. I never came here originally for fun and friends. I had a lot of unexplained technology and I thought maybe I'd be able to refine it, make it better, explain and make it semi-plausible while here. I knew NS is at least somewhat technology centered and that it'd be best to see what would happen here.
All the stuff you are bitching about and saying I pulled from nowhere is stuff I have always had but never explained well. Then you say that no one questions me. You're not in the IRC all the time. They give me just as much hell there if something doesn't make sense. That also helped me to make it make sense. At least somewhat.
About DRL: You were never around when he was, save for one or two moments. Yes, he was good at RPs, I'll give him that. But NO ONE caused him to leave. He, apparently, had a super-religious family that forced him to a quack of a psychologist that told him everything he was doing was wrong and such. We had nothing to do with his leaving.
None of us want you to go, other than Aluez maybe (I could be wrong about this), but we're starting to get annoyed that you pick apart all of our tech and stuff while not explaining yours. That, along with the unbalancing on all sides sucks the fun out of this.
And you can say that IRC is non-canon all you want. And you'd be right. It's a place to discuss everything and plan the threads a little. But if you (According to Aatu, I wasn't there for B&B conversation) go back on arrangements, then who is actually wrong here? None of us use OOC anger for IC action. You just do stupid shit ICly that causes a harsh IC response.
You're just as guilty for this stuff as the rest of us. I am going to be first to admit that the Empire is a little unbalancing. And please, for the love of GOD, just admit you are wrong for once.

I am also writing a book, but I never came here to be an utter...I will not finish that sentence. So what you are saying you came here to be a prat to get chars...Hmmm well I calling everything I have said copyright, with all chars, etc.
I suggest everyone else does.
Thinking about it...sorry I really can't add to what you have said, hell I didn't even throw you a shovel.
Note to all if ever ASE writes a book expect him to be using your ideas.
He came here to nick all your creativity, I came here to make friends and have fun, not ASE.
PS: I have a screen capture of that.

Thank you for ignoring that whole message and focusing on one sentence. And stop trying to take the moral high ground. I said 'originally'. I have made friends while I was here and I enjoy that. Now that I have most tech explained, at least to me, I am trying to have fun. It's shit like this that sucks it out though.
Besides, I already have my characters, my plot, etc. I just wanted to see if I could find people to help me explain the technology. I don't steal things from people. I am not an ass, despite what you might think. Don't throw accusations at me without any proof and don't put words in my mouth. I never said, or even insinuated, that I came here for characters. And even if I did want to steal characters, I sure as hell wouldn't steal your single minded, idiotic people.
I did say that I wanted to help explain my technology some. I don't bullshit. There's no point reading between the lines with me. What I say is what I mean.
I have to ask. Why are you making a personal insult to me? I am trying to keep this a logical conversation. What's the point of making this personal like that? Calling me an ass and such. I don't take kindly to people calling me a thief either, especially with no basis for that accusation.

Are you going to answer my question?

Nope as you seem to have joined the fed with the intention of using us...I really don't see why I should.

Perhaps you should answer it since you dodged everything else I was asking and ignored almost everything I was saying. I just want to know what the point of an insult is in a discussion that didn't warrant it.
And explain to me exactly how I was using people.

Only if you explain that first...and how from that statement you didn't plan on using people.
You know most of the people in the fed did come here for fun and friends.
I sure as hell did.

Okay.
I had a novel I was just starting a rewrite of. Well, I was just starting it. I had been on NS for a while and finally decided to get into the RP aspect. I figured "meh, it probably won't be fun, but at least it'll kill time". That's what I meant by not coming for fun. Then, in general since I am a cynic, I figured that everyone would be assholes. Hence the no friends part.
Then I had the tech factor of the book. I'm not a major science person (in the way that I can't figure out the science behind everything) and I figured maybe I'd find someone that was and get help with my stuff. I did, in time, but that was one of my main goals.
By the time Aatu came around (since he actually regularly IMed me and I was actually in some sort of regular communication with him) I began to look for friends a little more. Then, thanks to your screw up in Arrival, I began to have fun because I do like tension at times.
So while I originally came here with no intentions for friends or fun, that changed within only a month or so. I just didn't feel like writing a story to explain that because I figured you'd at least take that at face value and then not accuse me of using people and stealing things.
Your turn. What the hell was the point of insulting me?

I dunno the fact only now have been honest enough to say you intentionally did originally plan on using us. If you had been honest enough in the past to admit it before I had to force the issue I figure everyone would have shrugged it off.
But now that you have effectively made me have to force the issue and had to call izzy in who has better things to do with his time. I figure you would have never admitted it if I had not pulled this.
You owe Aatu and the rest of your fan club a much larger apology than anyone.
I don't expect one from you, I don't think any of the old guard will hold you to it, but offer it to the new bods. They deserve it more than anyone.

For it comes at times that in the course of moderation events, that all players should be having fun and that drama and angst must be defeated in order to regain that joy in our hearts. It has become clear that conflicts like this are sapping the fun and joy from our merry little world. I wish that I need not act, but it seems that my actions so far and being patient with folks are not working.
First, the out of character issues:
-Cal, you are very simply being an idiot here in accusing Anea of trying to steal everyone's character, ideas, plots, setting, and all that. Your leap of logic is incredible! Wanting to test ideas against other minds is very different from stealing other's ideas. How you equate the first to the second is beyond me. So KNOCK IT OFF! Of late you have been fully failing at understanding what people are trying to communicate to you and are reading things into what they are saying that they very much not saying. I consider you a friend, but this needs to stop.
-On the issue of driving people off: DRL was very unstable. I conversed with either him or his crappy little brother several times and I could never be 100% sure who I was talking to. We might of lost a good RPer there but he was at the very least unreliable in interacting with us and depressed by his home life being crappy and at the worst completely making it up for attention. Either case, as moderator of this shin dig, I'm alright with him having skipped out as he was bringing multiple members of the community undue angst who didn't deserve it, myself included. It was not a conspiracy to push out new peoples. If the second person you reference for being driven off is yourself, then fine, what ever. But DRL's leaving is not the fault of anyone this side of his computer screen.
-On explaining advanced technology/biological abilities/ect in out of character areas: If someone asks you for the how or the why of what makes something work, do your best to explain it to them! And if you can't, work with them to hash out the details. I myself have been a bit mystified as to the origins of the Teerie immunities (from a biological perspective, neither volcanos nor jungles should foster such things but if asked I had a number of good ways to make things work but I was not asked) and at the same time IX's information immortality still brings up some serious question (how good is the mind copy? Could there be N copies of IX running around at at given moment? Why not use this to give everyone information immortality and kill death forever?). But if people don't ask questions, or pose these scenarios, the answers don't appear. And if people are unwilling or unable to answer them, then that's a problem too.
-People working together: If you are hashing out a plot between your nations, groovy. If you are hashing out a plot to get even with a 3rd party, that's not okay. Even if there is good IC reasons for such. You at the very least need to bring that 3rd party in and work with them to figure out where things should go. As our world gets more complicated working with each other is becoming more and more necessary. So do it.
In character issues: -Tech creep of Aatu land: Fairly minor overall. If Aatu rockets are more WW2 german style, then they shouldn't be called ICBMs (at best, poor-man's ICMBs). If they are second hand stuff bought from North Korea, they are more along the lines of would be ICBMs that pose as much risk to the launcher as to the target. If its something more advanced, then it begs the question of who would of sold them such things (first world nations and super powers don't like chaos filled nations having the big toys) and if so was it for a purpose.
-Working with other nations against another: In character? Yes, it happens. It would be crazy not to work with your in character allies when another is acting aggressively against you! Just make sure its all on the level out of character.
-When things happen: This is something we can all work together on! For the MT-PMT era, our flag ship setting, having a definitive time line of events would be mega awesome. And that way people can go to it to determine if X big event has happened or not, and allow folks to make it clear when future advances appear so when we're playing with the present day stuff, people are not worried about something that isn't true yet. Wouldn't that be nice? Especially if it was something everyone could edit. Wait, we can easily do this on the wiki! Wait, there is already a time line page on it! Woo-wee!
-Following the rules: On the new forum there is a great place set up for critiques and another for moderation. Make use of them! Post something in ciritques if you don't think so and so should be happen and cite your reasoning. Then let the opposition defend it and if a moderator is needed to sort it out they have a nice place to put a decision, else you can hash it out on your own. If its a much more aggrieves issue (the appearance of the construction fleet in the MT-PMT forum might count on this), poke at the moderation forum for more immediate action.
-Playing above your means: This is related to tech creep. But it basically boils down to that you need certain specific advantages in order to do certain advanced things. It is assumed that most nations could probably have some level of stealth tech in the MT-PMT threads if they are of at least information age or high tech. Perfect stealth would not then be allowed without an advantage for it. The same goes for stealth ships. If you see people playing above their means or think they might be, complain in the ooc sections about it on the forums! Don't just bitch in irc or to me on AIM or personal messages. Inherently those mediums are unfair as the other side can't defend themselves. I am actually very happy this thread was made and the lot of ya had this conversation. It has laid to bare some motivations, thoughts, complaints, an angst that I was getting tired of being whispered.
-Taking losses in conflict: Communicate with people to figure out how much of a commitment you should be making to a situation and if this will mean lots of people will die or not. If suddenly thousands of people from other players are getting themselves killed defending your fort, do oblige them by making it clear that folks are being killed on your side too. If you don't want to loose a ton of people, ask the other person or persons to roll back the massive losses and point out the level of threat/death the situation has.
I've been poking at this all for quite some time now. And as I'm running out of half hours to take off between fits of rage, I'll get to the final decision on all this:
I like pretty much all the folks whom have come through the Furry Federation region, forums, or forums 2. For the most part you're interesting and fun people. But I'm getting so sick of this stupid. But to fix it, I fear more drastic measures then I've been making might be necessary.
So here it is:
-Cal: If you wish to continue to participate in this community, which you are welcome to, you need to make it clear you actually understand what people are communicating to you. You have become excessively difficult of late because you are assuming much more about what people are saying then they are saying. This makes you look insane. And maybe you have lost it. But if you haven't, I'd hope that you would have the guts to go back and trying to parse what it is you are missing or not understanding. And if you think someone is doing or saying something awful, ask for clarification. As it stands right now, everyone who has come to the fur fed as a non-native speaker has had been grasp of the english language then you have had of late. So here it is, the ultimatum: if you message me or post on any of the forums or in the NS region or where ever with accusations that are fully ungrounded in reality again, you are done. Some of what you have said in this thread does have merit. But where things have moved in the last few posts has made clear that you are not operating in a sensible manner.
-Aatu: You can keep your missiles. Just don't call them ICBMs unless you have a solid in character reason for such (aka, maybe they are medium range rockets but you call them ICBMs to make other nations nervous or KZ is arming you behind the scenes to fight a proxy war against Tinis [this will require a bit more permission from folks though]).
-Anea (Aluez): Some of Cal's complains have merit, but Cal has also failed to articulate a specific issue correctly that those complaints all stem from. The ever present threat of things from Andromeda has indeed become a bit much for the MT-PMT era. There needs to be a 100% effective means to end the perception of this threat once and for all pronto. For any rational nation in the MT-PMT, the mere existence of either Anea or Aluez colonies would be reason for mass panic and global militarization. And that's long before any Pudrians or Galactic Federation folks show up to increase the fear. This panic would consume nations and drive them to such incredible extremes that in the real world seem like distant possibilities. It becomes very much a stretch not to surround the planet with nuclear proximity mines, nuke both colonies, put a death laser on the moon, and put a solar system wide PDS up just to keep us safe from sudden death that no one can predict. Which that is very much what the threats of andromeda pose to all nations of planet fur-Earth. So I'm giving both Anea and Aluez one week to come up with a plan to fix this problem for the MT-PMT setting and to bring them to a minimum of equal players with the rest of the global community. I don't care if its a careful in character dance towards the goal or a massive retcon. Either is possible and I don't care which it is. And it doesn't need to happen in this next week, just a plan has to be made and posted. If it doesn't meet the necessary ends, it will be criticized. Do not fear these comments as they are meant to be constructive. Alas, Future Tech in present day does totally throw things into a spiral. And I was hoping grand fathering in you two wouldn't be a problem in the new rules. But if its driving people to be irrational, then maybe it is. Sorry.
And now I must sleep I thinks. I'll cross post this on the other forum first.
