Emperor Isaiah Xaimoungkhoun "You can deploy whenever you want. I just need to know when they'd arrive and be ready to fight. "And you're rather quiet. I am not succeeding in getting anymore than a couple sentences out of you while I am coming up with speeches off the top of my head. "Probably have quite a lot to say to me as well. So, since we seem to have worked out the military aspect of this, I want you to be completely honest with me. Believe it or not, I respect those that don't lie to me. "So, what are your thoughts on the current situation? The Empire? Me?"

Apparateur Sweizalthorpe
"Great. You will have contact from a transport within a day.
Current situation?
Emperor. I've actually tried to avoid discussing some of these things because it's unnecessary.
I've heard conflicting things about you prior to taking this office. Andertol used to swear up and down that you were, deep down, a reasonable person. But Qualt was pretty sure you had completely lost your mind somewhere on the way over to this planet.
You don't like being lied to so I'm going to go ahead and honor that and tell you how I feel.
As someone who has actually seen slavery and assisted in the dismantlement of it's implementations, in an effort to bring order to what is now our northern border region. I have seen first hand the destructive power it has. If we hadn't acted as soon as we did back then in the 60's and 70's: that area would still be reeling from it's effects for years to come.
They're now stabilized, productive and those people don't have to fear the lawlessness and the criminals that once ruled that desert. Slavery has no place in an orderly, functioning society. It is a tool of criminals who have no reservations about utterly destroying a people.
Emperor: I pulled too many dead bodies out of shipping containers and seen too many sick slum kids die in my arms to be able to condone it. There was no blaze of glory in my experience as a soldier. The best I could ever hope for was catharsis. I watched a comrade charge into a stronghold with two grenades, pins out... ready to die, just to kill the bastards who killed his entire family. I couldn't throw myself on top of him in time and I got to see his head detach from his neck in the explosion. I got to see carcases of my own kind, gutted and hung or impaled along the piles of burned-out cars the Einterbaum Gang had put up around their fortress in Boelart in the last days of that particular stand off in 1974. That place was once a city, and the apartments around their hideout in a minimall were still on fire. They had set them on fire as part of their display of brutality. Burning bodies on the ground. Nimiy cats, dogs, raptors. Families... Children. Species kinda doesn't mean a whole lot when everyone dies the same.
I've been the last man standing in my company after all my comrades had been captured, executed or turned to swiss cheese. My commanding officer thrown in front of a camera so his captors could make demands for a ransom. And known that he's probably going to try to intentionally drown himself when they get to boarding him... because then he'd rather be dead than help them. I got to find his body when I went in to rescue him. When I put these boxy claws through poorly armed, scruffy Mafia footsoldiers' chests. Didn't matter if they deserved it or not, my company was dead and I had a Captain to rescue.
I killed 8 people that particular day and it was almost 9. Because when I found him dead and looked around at the madness, I stuck an AK47 down my throat.
Then our allies, the Kazian border guard showed up and their unit commander, some tall black wolf came in and asked me, "Son, what the hell are you doing? Tryin' to blow your core out?"
I'm sure you've seen your share of things. I'm not comparing, I'm just trying to illustrate where I'm coming from. And what things have forged my opinions. I've been to hell and back and I made damn sure that I took note of every detail and every cause. Because it would have been a dishonor to those who died if I didn't make damn sure it never happened again.
But I digress. I think I've justified my distaste for both slavery and lawlessness plenty.
If I can do something to keep that from happening in the colony, than I damn sure will. I hope you realize that I was wanting to get something up there much earlier than when you first became aware. It's just sometimes it's hard to convince some people in my own government that there is a difference that can be made.
Politics is a son of a bitch."

Emperor Isaiah Xaimoungkhoun Sounds like you.No."Well... perhaps we aren't so different. At least in terms of experience. I have seen the same though not over slavery. It was all sorts of reasons ranging from genocide to just because they can. I have fought countless wars. Watched countless billions die. Like you, I am determined to prevent things from happening again. "But never have I fought a war over slavery. Not until earlier today. If something that only just became legalized can cause this kind of reaction in the people, I can only imagine long term effects. "I must be honest as well. I thought my legislation would have worked. I had specifics set out to prevent that. But it did no good clearly. I misunderestimated support for it. I have said I thought it was the right thing to do." An explosion rocked the building had to be audible on his end. "And that is the result of it. Chaos. Complete fucking chaos. I know of the history on this planet involving slavery. I was looking more at Ancient Rome, the short lived CSA. The power they had. Hoping I could equal that. I wasn't looking at the potential effects on today's society. "I figured that, since it is already going on in Andromeda, I could just capitalize on it and provide a short term economic boost to the Empire. I made a mistake and I am regretting every moment of it. "Andertol is right believe it or not. I am very reasonable when it's necessary. No one sees that of course. They see the person that charges into battle wearing nothing but a loin cloth while yelling "GLORY" the whole way. Sorry if that gives you a horrible image. I've never done that though. They don't see, however, me behind the scenes. When I am not fighting I am willing to work out solutions to anything. "For example, what we are doing now. I could have had this wrapped up already. Wiped out most of a city, killed several million people, but succeeded in the primary goal. But I am more reasonable than that. I am willing to work out a plan that minimizes civilian casualties. Something I learned from my mistake... a couple years ago with the whole trade thing with Cal. "However, I do have an 'Empire-first' mentality. I will fight for the good of the Empire and its people before I consider other nations. That seems to be my main problem. I was so short sighted that I was looking at what slavery could do for the Empire and not what it would do. Thousands are dead by my hands now. "And I know I have to live with that forever. At least 10,000 dead here, over 500,000 dead so far in the Liberation War, 200 billion in the Civil War, more than 5 million in the Federation invasion, over 1 trillion in the Third Federation War, about 30,000 at Acronos. Countless millions before that. All of these are my fault. The blood of all of those are on my hands. "These recent events have made me look back on my past. What I have done, what I have destroyed. And for what? The Empire collapsed once and is facing another collapse. We won't last. I hate to admit it, but it's true. "All I can do now is try to keep this nation together, despite the challenges. If we come out of this conflict, successfully, then I will be surprised. Already Prime Minister Rio has turned in her resignation. She doesn't want to be involved with my regime, as she called it, any longer. I don't blame her. "Politics... what was I thinking getting involved with them? I could have stayed as a hero to the people as a soldier. Instead, I turned them against me. The Senate already has more or less shunned me, my family I doubt will want to speak with me, and I am about to watch any alliances I have fall apart. "It's strange. The only thing I have never done before was admit I was wrong. Yet... it feels right. I realize I messed up. Probably irreparably this time. I have no friends on this planet. Those I once considered allies turned their backs on me. You and the Cali are helping but you just want to make sure slavery isn't put into place and I am sure the Cali will find a reason to make demands for reparations when this over. Hell, I'm sure everyone will do that. "Before you go off on me talking about blaming the Cali for everything again, I wasn't and I don't. I know when things are my fault. This whole situation is my fault. I have alienated the world, lost the one thing I have ever wanted, and am watching my life fall apart. "Have you ever been to this kind of low? I am 143 years old. For 125 of those years I have been a soldier. I have been fighting for the Empire, for freedom. I am rebuilding the Empire. I have brought nations to their knees. And yet, it's all unraveling. What good have I done for this planet? For the galaxy? For the universe? "It's scary thinking that everything I have worked for means nothing now... "Heh, speaking of catharsis. Good gods I think I have said more to you just now than I have anyone else in my life. Just... forget everything I said. None of it matters. Shouldn't have told you any of that. You didn't need my life story. If anything comes of it, at least you have at least a small glimpse into my mindset and what has influenced that."

Lieutenant General Masako Tijerina "Well, there's not much I can do about that. If you wait a moment, I can get you a car to the Emperor. He should still be at the Capitol. He's the only one that can help you right now."

"That would be much appreciated m'lady. In the meantime, could you arrange for the refueling of my compatriots' planes, so they can make the return trip back to Aatuylva in order to get more supplies?"

Lieutenant General Masako Tijerina "Yes, they'll probably get that in the next couple minutes." A GK Skirmisher pulled up. There's a soldier on the .80 caliber machine gun. "Here's your ride."

Baron Kanito Dran's Viking STOL troop carrier streaked towards the city, he was with twenty SBS (Special Boat Squadron) on board, like most of the Barons in the special forces he was a paws on leader of his troops. With his Viking were two others and an escorted Seven Pict VTOL fighter bombers.
His title was purely military and was similar to a cornel in other forces. All of the SBS furs with him had dropped a rank when they accepted the invitation to join the SBS. You did not apply to join the SBS if you were already a commando with three years experience or more, you were asked if you were good enough. If you managed to get through training, two thirds didn't, normally SBS members severed only five years with the regiment before returning there normal commandos.
The commonwealth air force had scrambled, lead by the Celt air supremacy fighters, now travling at hypersonic speed towards the area to ensure air superiority. Be hind them flew Saxon fighter bombers and Pict VTOL fighter bombers in lue of helecopters that were too slow to make move in just yet.
The baron's Viking was closing with the city as he sent out a broadcast:
"This is Baron Kanito Dran commander of the advanced good will display team, requesting landing location. Anywhere fairly flat will do. Come in"
--- Back at the base the marines were getting into the air, the regular army was taking longer so the marines were taking their Vikings. The marines didn't have much in the way of heave armour, but in an urban situation that was probably for the best.

Commander Vincenzo Soldavini IX ordered me south in order to assist in organizing the forces. Plus he had that meeting with those people in the south, so he says. Hopefully it won't impact his command capability. I do like that IX got me a set of Goliath armor a while back. Makes me a little more intimidating. A message came over from a "Baron Kanito Dran". Wonderful. Cali royalty. This won't end well. "This is Commander Soldavini. If nearly any flat will work, the area where the forces are gathering are mostly flat plains. If you have any bombers, I recommend you turn them back. The Emperor has ordered me to prevent the city from being bombed due to civilians. "Upon landing, I will have an aide bring you to me so we can begin to plan the liberation."

"Roger"
The vikings came into land, and the special forces existed at speed off the back ramps before the craft quickly took off again. The Pict fighter-bombers hovered above the wariours as they scattered and secured an area.
The Baron with ten others left the rest to it as far above an Angle II recon aircraft made a pass in the stratosphere passing down the current situation to the baron's communications system that he carried with him.
The warriors were all lupine and looked, well a little scruffy and not terribly military. Though a trained eye would have noticed the expert way they had secured a landing area.

"Thank you kindly, m'lady."
This damned thing better be fast.
--------------------------------
"Sifus's teats. Isn't that New Nordavic?"
"Aye, it was. Let's go ahead and make a pass on it before we head to the airforce base the liason told us about."
The large, modified Airdaemon turned, it's wings painted the red and black of the fire services of Aatuylva. The pilot radioed a brief message to the air-services in Anea, stating his nationality, intention, and location, before he made a pass over the burning city, throwing a switch, releasing massive amounts of fire suppressant foam onto the raging inferno, making three passes before expending it's tanks, turning towards the New Gracaria Airforce Base.

General Luca Rio Soldavini asked me to be an aide for him during this conflict since I already stepped down as Prime Minister. I, however, get to meet with these people and bring them to Soldavini. He did give me a temporary rank as general. I said to all of them. "I am General Rio, Commander Soldavini's aide. He wants me to bring the commander to him, as I'm sure you know. Also stop being so nervous. This is Anean territory you're on and you're fighting with us, you're safe believe it or not."

The Baron smiled to one of the others "Scuzzy. Tell the guys, we're in friendly land and tell the fly boys to quit making that racket. No point wasting fuel."
"Will co" replied a younger lupine saying something into the mic that hung infront of his muzzle and the Picts started to come down.
The baron stepped forwards saying "Wotcha I'm the Baron here Kanito Dran, just call me Kan, the rest do along with a few other things. These are SBS squadrons 1,2,3,5,7 and 13 they were just checking the landing area was secure. If this is to be our beach head you can see us wanting to give it the once over?"

Two hours into the Retake Operations of New Vancouver
The APC convoys had became a pleasant backdrop against the city, some sectors had been destroyed by siege fire from the skyships, but the damage wasn't too extravagant. Tanks patrolled the streets along side of the APC's and HIND's now scanned buildings and on occasion, gunned down terrorists in the street that had pinned down allied forces.
Tod's patrol had finally reached the command center of the NVPD, the APC convoy coming to a stop at the perimeter before Tod jumped off the top of the main APC, walking toward the police line. "Where is your commanders?" he asks the officers as he rested against the front of the APC, red eyecoders glowing in the blackened eye sockets of the helmet.

General Luca Rio "Beachhead? Right." I guess he didn't realize we are almost 60 miles inland. "I suppose you're right, but considering we've got... well... too few soldiers here, it's fairly secure. Now, I would recommend getting your soldiers to the NGDF regulars. Help dig trenches and . Chances are Megamantics is going to come directly north with tanks and IFVs in the next couple hours. "It's good you arrived when you did." I walked toward a Skirmisher and got in. "The Commander is about a half mile from here and will give you a full briefing. Let's go." Colonel Donte Argentieri The Skirmisher carrying the Aatuylvan person arrived at the Capitol. I walked up and opened the door for him. "I am Colonel Argentieri of the New Gracaria Infantry Defense Force. The Emperor is in a meeting right now. Follow me though."

Kan looked a little confused "Your suggesting that the best use you can put special forces to is digging trenches? Get my guys behind their lines or get them to infiltrate themselves there. They may look like a scruffy lot but they know what they are doing. They could probably buy us some time, they have maps and can set a few surprises to slow them down. With luck enough so that we can get both the marines and the thacken regulars here with there heavy stuff."
--- Down south 4th Para were mobilising at speed, the commonwealth always had some forces on alert at all times and 4th para were experts in urban warfare. They Also mobilised forces to re-enforce the base a starus nu.
