From: The Desk of Secretary of State Cecil of the Union of Tinis To: Major and Acting Governor Tamarynn Rio Subject: Re: The Current War of Words
I hope you understand again our concern in this matter. Stated threats are still stated threats and so even if it was a bluff, it puts us at great unease. We can't very much go on national TV and say that all these statements are just posturing, pay it no mind.
As for the problems with your diplomat, if he is a hot head and easily insulted, perhaps a more serious individual should of bent sent as back up for IX. Again, it is not our concern what personal issues your diplomats have. Our concern is the safety of the city and its citizens.
But to prevent further blunders, I'll urge the city air traffic control to let your craft go unmolested. But please remind them to leave only on approved Sarue Nu flight paths. Disregard for diplomacy is one thing, but disregard for flight safety is another and a collision between your craft and a commercial jet liner would just ruin everyone's day.
We hope that a new meeting, one with less personality issues to worry about, will be arranged soon. For the longer these tensions go on, the more people in many nations be generally unhappy.
Have a nice day.
-Sec. Cecil

General IX
Just as the shuttle came down Rio came over my communicator.
"General, I was in contact with the Tinisian SecState. He told me to inform you that you need to take approved flight plans for the city. Just to be safe." He said.
I said, "Negative, I am getting out of the city as fast as I can."
"But-" I shut him out.
The shuttle was about seven feet off the ground. That'll be hard to get in. Nakhi though jumped right up to it and pulled himself in. I needed a bit of run to make it.
I threw the gun bag into the shuttle and then jumped. I grabbed onto the back and Nakhi pulled me in. Now, if this was an actual combat situation, then I wouldn't need help.
When we got in, Nakhi closed the rear door with a switch. When we got strapped in, the pilot put the engines as fast as they could go and then we went almost vertical to get as high as possible.
At 90,000 feet, we turned for the colony and began a steady descent. This one was too close. When I get back, I am ending this. It's no longer worth it to me.

"They took off sir," said the aid.
"Didn't crash any plains did they?"
"No no, they went to around 30 km and took off."
Cecil nodded. "Ok, I guess now we wait." He hopped they'd make a statement before the First Speaker opened his yap. He might be the Secretaries boss but Cecil didn't care for him.

Chancellor Alinatie sent a message to the northern nations, except with exception of The Anean Star Empire and Tinis. It detailed the same deal that had been offered to ASE and pointed out the same advantages*.
Alinatie figured someone would bite, he did add that the ASE seemed to have less concern for national sovereignty and sapient life by including the with drawl they had made (Including voice intercepts).
If ASE were not going to someone up here would see sense.
He added "Apparently bribery is common with these people as that is the only reason I can see for the actions of the individual. Who walked out.
My proxy might have misinterpreted his intentions but it would appear he wished a bribe and did not see any issue with this. In the commonwealth bribery of anyone near the government is very much illegal like most sane nations.
I suggest we meet over a game of golf as soon as possible." --- OOC: see:http://furfed.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=events&action=display&thread=317&page=5
---- The Tunisian government was informed at the attempt at bribery as were their souther neighbours and asked to send delegates to solve the problem.
---- Tailinto sighed and turned muttering "He was not my boyfriend though I quite liked him. He was a possible business partner that wanted a bribe. As business orientated as we commonwealth types are we do not give bribes.
They are a straight no-no...and we certainly do not give what I still think he wanted."
She then looked up.

General IXI can only imagine how fast we were going since we landed no more than 20 minutes later. "I think Rio just did something wrong." I said as I stepped off the back of the shuttle. Nakhi said, "What? Why?" "I don't know yet. Besides, I am ending this now. No point carrying it on after tonight." "You can't do that! We are at war!" "No, we're in the middle of a trivial argument over trivial matters. Me trying to assert our dominance in the world backfired and I made a mistake by carrying it on." "So, what are you going to do?" "Give the order to the military to stand down. Put us back on DEFCON 5. And Nakhi, I want you to write a formal apology to the person that you spoke to." "But-" "Just do it. Hopefully these things won't get anymore out of hand." "Yes sir..." "You did get her name right?" "No..." "Get that message written up then I will see what I can do to get it to her." With that, I went back to my house and wrote up the message to be sent to all my soldiers. --- 'Attention all Anean soldiers of the New Gracaria colony, this is General IX. Effective immediately, we are to resume peacetime operations. Stand down from Defense Condition 3. I say again, we are standing down. This has escalated too much and I am calling it off. Captain Walton Emrick, ANS Harbinger"Thank you!" I let that go after I read the order for us to turn around. Then again, I do like the idea of a continental cruise to make sure we are fully functional. I said through the ship's intercom, "The orders just came in from the colony, we are not going to war. However, we are still going to Sarue nu. If we're lucky, they will let us in and maybe we can get a bit of shore leave."

To: General IX Form: Chancellor Alinatie
Greetings.
As the situation has been stood down, my government will have the wind fleet on it was soon enough, the offer still stands. Your underling may had told you of it, if they have not ask them of it. You will save a lot of face and have hurt the people actually behind this in the first place.
How ever timing is important.
The anti-competitive actions will stop as...well you will own part of the merchant fleet that make up the merchantmen. The rest will be bought up in the feeding frenzy when their owners go to the wall. We know who the ones that have caused the problem are heavily shorting shares. If we can cause the shares of those investing in the new city to go vertical 15 minutes before they have to pay back the shorts....Well.
This is insider trading, but I will not be standing at the next election and.....well by the time a case is put together it will be a moot point for me.
Yours Alinatie

To: Chancellor Alinatie From: Governor-Militant IX
When he explained to me what happened prior to us leaving the city, he told me everything. I can go along with it. I just hope that somehow he can profit from this as well. He is not a diplomat, never was, never should have been. That was a mistake on my part.
I believe that I will be able to invest in this. I mean, the sum that my Colonel informed me of is pocket change to me. I just need the details of the arrangement and how it will work.
I do feel that I should explain why I was unavailable in the city. Just as I arrived at the golf course, I received a message from an unknown person. Some things were said that more or less ruined my mood. So I decided to stay out of it. Unless of course you wanted me to snap at the little things. What wonders that would have done for diplomacy.
Anyway, yes, I will get the money together, I just need the details.
On a side note, I was wondering if I could get the name of your aide. The Colonel wants to apologize to her, but he doesn't know her name.
Sincerely, Governor-Militant IX

To: Governor-Militant IX From: Chancellor Alinatie
The name of my aid, well minister of state is Eye Tailinto en, though I ask that you do not publicly mention her involvement. Unlike myself she has a political future, I will not be standing at the forth coming election. As it takes some some time to bring charges of finical market manipulation, which is what we plan on doing, it is moot for me, but not to her.
As for arrangements, you will have to set up a front company to trade in the commonwealth's exchanges. I will send you the paperwork, it is not very complex, though I look forwards to see what you name your company.
Feel free to be humorous, but Marx inc, Lennon plc and Ho Chi Minh plc are taken. I suspect you will come up with an ironic or entertaining name. The founders of companies have a good sense of humour in the commonwealth.
I will send a notary to where ever you wish to get the bank accounts organised. This should take less than a day or so, so you will be in a position to act at the time requested, which should be very profitable, as the markets are still unsure of the security to the new city.
As for accommodation you will own a majority share in a company that owns a number of hotels in the new city, if you wish after the raid buy them out entierly. They will need to test their systems, so perhaps your chaps from your ship can do that? You and the officer chaps can test the systems in the more up scale ones, perhaps.
As for a gift. Well bribes are very illegal in the commonwealth, but a Mantis dealership has been acquired by a good friend of mine in the new city, with the money he will make from our actions, if he has any sense he could buy it for a very reasonable price.
How much do you like your colonel?
They have a Mantis 9* car there, if you like him don't let him have it, but if you don't or think he is skilled enough not to wrap him and the the car around a tree, it would be a shame if he did.
The Mantis 9 is a wonderful piece of engineering and to see one destroyed would be appalling. Just a note that the Mantis 9 has no power steering, traction control or engine management computer and saying the word automatic will get you, quite rightly, thrown out of any dealership. It is a sports car as they are meant to be. I have a Mantis 3, I still believe that was their best.
As for you Colonel, I suspect a "I'm sorry" and dinner would probably work for Tailinto. She is not here officially and I think that it would be for the best if it stayed that way. Well that and she is not that offended, watch the debates over the budget, she has been called far worse. Well that an we are not an easily offended people, well for the most part.
Yours
Alinatie (Chancellor Of The Exchequer) -- *Think more 911 than corvette.

I am not concerned with the profit though as much as I am concerned with fixing the diplomatic relations that were ruined at first contact. My colonel however doesn't need a gift or anything. He wanted a cut in this whole investment thing. He wouldn't want a car though. He already has at least a dozen different Anean supercars back home. If it can't go more than 300 mph, then it's of no use to him. But anyway, let's get this whole thing underway and get it over as soon as possible. Sincerely, IX (Hero of the Anean Star Empire, Governor of the Earth Colony, and General of the Emperor's Legion)

privet letter --- From: Chancellor Alinatie To: Governor-Militant IX
Greetings
I am chancellor of the exchequer and am not Calie. I'm leefen, of the isle of inleef please do not call me the Chancellor of cal as that would be incorrect, Please join me for a game and drag you second, I think she took a shine to him. No doubt your second noted my bucker finding ability. I am not that bad.
Shall we meet early?
Yours Alinatie
--- To: Whatever Nakhi From:Eye Tailinto en
Right you will by me dinner if some how Alinatie manages to put his ball into a bunker he can't see from the tee. The shot is impossible, the 17th hole is design so that you can't put a ball in a bunker.
If you agree to this you are buying me dinner and drinks, but only that. If lose I buy you dinner, etc.
Yours
Tailinto
PS Your losing might cost you more....like there is no ambassador of your nation in the commonwealth , I might be inclined to recommend you..

I assume we will be meeting in the same place? If so, hopefully this goes better than yesterday. Also, I may have one or two others joining me strictly as security of sorts. Anean tradition assigns 2 soldiers as guards in a diplomatic mission. They won't be heavily armed, but my Major won't let me leave without them now. As for early, how early are you thinking? From: Chancellor Alinatie To: Governor-Militant IX
Greetings
I think perhaps we should meet on the course about eleven thirty, the weather forecast is good. As for you guards, I will not have any, but they would make handy caddies. I will have a notary on hand to make the actions needed easy.
You may arrive as you did before, basically don't wreck the course. I look forwards to the game...I think your underling has a bet as to how I do on the 17th hole. It is impossible for me to hit a bunker on that hole.
She seems to have taken a shine to him. I think so as he.
Perhaps he might become your ambassador to our nation. He might be a warrior but I'm an ex-freedom fighter...or terrorist (depending on how you view things), so he might be better at it than he thinks.
Yours
Alinatie

Yours Alinatie From: Governor-Militant IX To: Chancellor Alinatie Very well. I will be there in the morning. I was unaware of a bet, not that I mind, but now I wonder who bet on what. I have to ask, as a respect to me, not to refer to the Colonel as an underling. He is far from that with me since we have fought countless battles together. He wouldn't like it either. Sincerely, Governor IX --- General IX, the next morningMy morning followed the same routine as it did when I was here the last time. Nothing special happened, as I expected. Only difference is that a pair of AGF soldiers in light armor. I am wearing a black polo shirt (with the TEL's emblem as a pin on my collar), black pants, and black boots. Considering the heat, I realize just how bad of an idea that was Nakhi is wearing basically the same thing I am, but the shirt is white. More or less, we are in uniform. After getting through the airport, train, and the walk. We arrived at the golf course. My soldiers will be around and visible, but they will be far enough away that they will not interfere with anything that is being said and the game itself. Although... it would be quite humorous to watch a ball hit one of my soldiers since they don't have helmets... As we got in, Nakhi pointed the Chancellor out to me and I walked over to them.

Tailinto smiled, she was wearing a light summer dress. Alinatie muttered "I didn't know you owned a dress. If I didn't know better I would say you are trying to impress someone?" "Shut it, and you will cook in those tweeds." came the reply. "I though he was bringing caddies." "May be if your clubs didn't need carbon dating that would not be such an issue."
"General IX, I assume, I hope you are feeling better" Alinatie smiled he knew he had been blown off last time but saw no point in making an issues of it, he doffed his hat. "This is Tailinto and that is Drania. She is a notary so just needs you to sign a couple of things and well name your company." he continued nodding towards a small drewn in a suit. "Then we can tee off, but there is no real hurry." he ended.

Maybe some day I could go into detail about that. Anyway, this is Colonel Welhan. I know that you met him already." I pointed at the soldiers. "Those are my guards. They will be out there for the duration unless there was a situation that required them to come over. I don't want them here, but, as I said, my major wouldn't let me leave without them. So I will give them the menial task of walking around and looking like they are doing something. "I think the company thing can wait until later. That way I can come up with a decent name."
