General IX, Day 1, Year 1, ASE Colony Ship, Cryo Chamber, 1211
The door to my chamber opened and I stepped out slowly. I still have to make sure that I have my balance and can walk well. It's been... I have no idea how many years. I will probably find out soon though. After making sure that I am walking right, I headed toward my locker.
After finding my clearly obvious name, I opened it and took out my uniform. At least they kept it neatly pressed for me. I got that on and then sat down to put my boots on. When I stood up, I watched Colonel Welhan step out. He started to fall and I quickly grabbed him.
As I struggled to get him upright again, I said, "Damn kitty, you got to lose some weight." He is a white tiger... and a big one at that.
He sat down for a moment and said, "Damn, don't ever let me do that again."
"Yeah, I know. Well, I have to get to the bridge. Chances are we are already landed."
"You have fun with that. I will probably be up there in a moment."
I headed through a door and followed the signs to the bridge. Any ASF soldiers that I walked by saluted me. I am actually the commander of our elite elite forces group, the Emperor's Legion. We are, for lack of better words, the leaders of the military.
Nakhi, or Colonel Welhan, is my second in command. He has no relation to the human Emperor of the same name though. That is a long story. He and Major Luca Rio are the only other two TEL members that came with me on this mission.
Bridge, 1216
"Give me a report captain." I said as I walked in. I saw the green fields in front of us go on almost forever.
Captain Caleb Talamo, a wolf, said, "Well, we landed successfully. Right now, AGF soldiers are offloading our tanks and military equipment. Civilians are waking up from cryo and getting their stuff off of the ship. Uh..." He looked at a monitor, "and it seems that we are rolling out our first load of construction materials."
"Excellent. This is going well. I am heading down to the surface. I might as well see what this place is like. It seems a lot like home."
"If you mean Remnora X, then it does. If you mean Haroma III, then I might have to disagree."
"Yeah, I guess. What will happen to the ship after this?"
"We will definitely contact the Capital and inform them that we landed."
"Sounds like a plan. Keep me posted."
"Will do sir."
I headed out of the bridge and toward a lift. When I stepped in, I realized that I forgot to ask how long it has been.
Colonel Nakhi Welhan, AGF Cargo Bay, 1218
The AGF had an easy time rolling off their 30 GK-II tanks and 40 AIFVs. Now the 10,000 soldiers are just relaxing a bit. I might as well yell at them. Make sure I can still do that after all this time. I observed them for a moment so I can pick out the leader. They do not have their rank insignias on right now.
After a moment I realized that one of the humans there might be the leader. I walked over to him and said, "What the hell do you and your soldiers think you are doing?! We have a colony to build and there are 10,000 soldiers sitting on their asses having a good time. Either you have them go do something or you will have to speak with IX. I doubt that you want to do that."
The soldier said, "I am sorry Colonel. I will get on that."
"What is your name and rank?"
"Colonel Wainscott."
"Well Scotty, you had better get moving." He jumped up and started giving orders.
Behind me, I heard someone say, "Well, you handled that... as I would have expected." I turned and saw a wolf, who I then identified as Luca.
"Oh, hey Luca. I guess you saw that?"
"And heard."
"Oh. Yeah, I can be loud."
"I know that. I am sure IX does to."
"He knows everything... or at least he likes to think that he does."
"That's just a human ego."
I laughed and said, "Yeah. You got that right."
IX said, "So, I hear you guys were talking about me."
"Yes I was. What are you going to do about it?"
"Nothing at all. I am not even going to try to take down a seven foot tall tiger."
"Yeah, good luck with that."
General IX, Communications Room, Day 3, 1653
Construction of the colony goes well. For now though, everyone takes shelter on the ship until we can get out there
Our scanners told us that there is civilization on this planet. I figure that I might as well put out a broadcast and see if anyone responds.
I said to the operator, "Can you set us to all AM and FM radio frequencies?"
"Just give me a moment."
"You have all the time in the-"
"Done."
"Okay then." I have a script of sorts ready for my broadcast. "Can you repeat this multiple times?"
"Yes I can."
"After I give my message, keep playing it. If we get a response inform me."
"I will do that."
I gave my simple, but hopefully effective, speech. "Attention all nations of this planet. This is General IX of the Anean Star Empire. We come in peace and are on a large island to the east of a major continent. We wish to have peaceful relations with any interested party. Please, respond to us. We mean no harm." I motioned with my hand to cut the recording. He did.
"What now sir?"
"We play it and wait."
--- Abbreviation explanations:
AGF - Anean Ground Force; the Army and Marines basically ASF - Anean Space Force; the Air Force and Navy bascially TEL - The Emperor's Legion AIFV - Anean Infantry Fighting Vehicle GK-II - Nothing special about that, but it's a main battle tank

Not much time later, a different tiger had just sat down at his desk. Supreme Commander Dobbin Krazalgesh tapped the keyboard and the monitor came to life. His eyes scanned over some reports for a few minutes before an amber light appeared from under the surface of the smokey glass desktop. SC Kraz, as he was called by most who worked with him in any routine fashion, turned his head and tapped the spot over the light.
"What is it?" he asked.
"Observation of an anomalous signal, possible code 87."
"Krel, what is a code 87?"
"Code 87 is a sudden appearance of peoples from another star system without prior warning but with a friendly worded announcement of arrival."
Kraz rubbed his chin. A code for everything indeed. "There's a lot of conditionals there. What is the scoop?"
Krel continued. "We received a signal from Hwaoc* island by several listening posts. Location determined to a few hundred square miles via triangulation. The message signal was repeated over a wide range of frequencies and modulations. It appears to be on repeat as well."
"If there from another planet I'm guessing they don't have anything similar to our language," Kraz pointed out.
"Correct. So the translation is fairly rough as is given the limited vocabulary used in the message. By the linguists and mathematicians did make good use of Sim 9 to get an estimate of the message."
"Ok, what is that message?"
"'Alert all peoples of world. Speaking is leader/instructor IX belonging to Anean Star Empire. We arrived in peace and are present at land to the east of a big land. We want to have peaceful interactions with any curious event/union. Please, talk to me. We desire no hurt.'" answered Commander Krel.
Kraz leaned back in his chair. "Krel, what is your feelings on this?"
"Feelings sir?"
"Your intuition."
"It could be a trap. Or a hoax. But if they are aliens, and they meant us harm, they would be limited in some extreme fashion to not of just attacked us from the get go. Meaning they either don't have massive weapon capabilities, or fear we either match or exceed them in some fashion and thus wish to know more before striking. And of course, by us, I mean everyone on the planet and not just Tinis sir. The nations of the world are a very diverse collection and so if even one nation or group has an advantage they wouldn't be able to counter, they might be playing it safe. On the other hand, if the translation is correct and they don't mean us harm, then this is an opportunity that should not be missed. I would recommend..."
"That is all Commander."
"Yes sir," said Krel. The amber light went out.
SC Kraz pushed another nearly invisible button on the desk. A blue light began to flash under it and then become solid. "Hello Supreme Commander, the First Speaker is in a meeting right now. Is this an emergency?"
"Yes it is. Get him on a secure line as soon as possible. And get the Cecil and Zatzhfi on the line as well."
-----
After some intense arguments over what to do, the Supreme Commander of Tinis and First Speaker Lenord had opted to respond to the unusual broadcast. The message would be relayed in both Tinisian and in the best guess at what it would be in the language they had heard so far.
"Greetings people of Anean and leader IX. We are the Union of Tinis. We want peaceful interactions. Sending escorted person to your land. We desire no hurt. Need assistance to understand speaking."
They would wait a few hours for a response before sending three helicopters to the island in case a response was made. And to see if anyone else opted to heed their call.
------
[*Hwaoc island is just what your island is/was called in Tinis. You can name it what ever you like. It just made sense for it to be referenced as something.]

General IX, Day 3, ASE Colony Ship, Communications Room, 2117
I walked into the communications room and said, "What could be so important that you chose to wake me up?"
The soldier said, "We got a response to our message."
"Good. Play it for me."
"Greetings people of Anean and leader IX. We are the Union of Tinis. We want peaceful interactions. Sending escorted person to your land. We desire no hurt. Need assistance to understand speaking."
The soldier said, "Wow, they think you are the Emperor."
"Great. I will obviously have to clarify that... and get some sort of translator for them. I clearly took it for granted that everyone spoke a language similar to our own."
"You want to start your response to them?"
"Yeah, I might as well."
"When you are ready sir, just speak. I will send it to the location where their message came from."
"Union of Tinis, this is IX again, leader of the colony here. We received your message. We will see what we can do about language assistance, but I believe that that can be resolved by meeting instead at a location of your choice. Please respond at your earliest convenience."
"Is that all General?"
"What do you think?"
"Okay, I am cutting out what we just said and... done. We are sending that back to them. Again, now we wait right?"
"Yes. I hate waiting."
"I think we all do."
"So, I am going back to sleep. You stay on watch for a response."
I left the communications room and headed back toward my cabin. I am one of the few that actually has a cabin to myself. With almost 2,300,000 civilians on this ship that extra space is nice.
Unfortunately though, with all those people, this ship is huge and I have a really long walk back. Whoever designed this ship must have assumed that we would abandon the ship, but it is hard to abandon a ship almost 8 miles long and 3 wide.*
---
*Just wanted to give a little information about this ship. Yes, with our tech, it is possible to make a ship that size, but it takes a long time... obviously.

The late night was wearing on those assembled. Lenord hated the tower really. When he was in charge of the space forces he avoided it as much as possible. When he had come down there in the late afternoon his body had decided that the sun had gone down and it was time to rest. But of course it hadn't. And now he felt like it was in the middle of the night.
The meeting room was one of the few that had a window to the natural cavern system that 'The Tower' had been built through. The erie glow of the green maintenance lights added an extra level of unease to the view.
"Ovrin," said the Supreme Commander before pushing the call answer button.
"Sirs," came the voice on the other end. Some analysis in the intel division most likely. "We have received a reply."
----
Lenord shook his head. "This still doesn't feel right to me. But you are tying my paws on this one Kraz. Mulkatis will go."
Mulkatis didn't seem to pleased with this. His tail flicked repeatedly. "I... as you wish First Speaker. But wouldn't..."
"No no, Mulky. You're there to represent Tinis. And to make sure Kraz and Talia's twerp doesn't go off and do something stupid." The First Speaker was of course pointing at the Supreme Commander as he said this. "Anyone of lower visibility and the kitty might enjoy Krel's paranoid delusions. You're going. And that's final."
"Yes, I'll get ready right away."
"Secretary Cecil?" interjected Kraz. "Your helicopter leaves in fifteen. Take the express elevator. It will get you most the way to the surface."
Once the old cat had left, Kraz turned to Vinlia. "So Vinlia. Can we trust your officer to keep to keep Cecil from getting himself shot?"
Vinlia nodded. "Yes, the major I've assigned has escorted diplomats before."
"Good. Then our First Speaker here shouldn't be worried."
The game of both sides talking about each other as if they weren't there was growing tiresome to the First Speaker. But it was routine by this point.
"Broadcast the coordinates," said Commander Vinlia into a com. "And use redundant patterns to make sure they can figure it out."
-----
Not long after, Mulkatis Cecil was climbing into one of three helicopters sitting atop a rather standard skyscraper in down town Arx. The cat quickly took his seat and got comfortable. There were two other civilians there, both members of his staff. And two soldier types beyond the pilots.
"Good evening Secretary," said one of the soldiers, a mouse with a few hole's in his large ears. More likely caused by bullets than deliberate piercings. "I'm Major Kad. You might want to take a nap once we get on the plain."
"What's the flight plan?"
The Major signaled to the pilots to lift off. "We'll be at the airport in just a couple minutes. But we'll soon have you on a jet off from there. We'll land on the carrier Nozrog which is only a couple hundred miles from the island. From there we'll helicopter to the rendezvous point. We'll be taking two helicopters from the carrier as there's enough of us. Hopefully that won't spook our guests."
Mulkatis nodded as they lifted off. "What do you make of all this?"
Kad shrugged. "Don't much know, don't much care. I'm here to keep you safe and out of trouble. If purple three headed aliens try to eat you I'll be there to stop them. But also if they look tasty enough for you to snack on, I might have to step in as well."
"Got it."
And they were soon off to meet the unknown.

General IX, Day 3, Planet's surface, 2156
I banged on two doors as I walked down the hall. Moments later, Nakhi and Luca walked out of their rooms.
I said, "We got a response. We are heading to a set of coordinates. Let's move. Luca, you get us a shuttle. Nakhi, you get armor on and grab a rifle. Just in case."
Luca asked, "Should I get anything?"
"No. I want to seem nonthreatening."
"Then you should put your revolver back in your cabin."
"You know I never leave without it."
"We are meeting another people. For all we know, it could be peace loving isolationists that-"
"Yes, because isolationists would have responded to us with intentions of peace."
"It could be a trap."
"It could be, but I doubt it. We have every right to be worried for our safety, but there is nothing to be afraid of yet."
"But-"
"If it will make you feel better, I will have 20 AGF soldiers in hiding in case something goes bad."
"What if there are thousands of them?"
"We will see that coming. Then we pull back to here and defend. Are you going to get the shuttle now?"
"Yes sir."
When I turned around, Nakhi was already gone. I guess I might as well head down to the surface now and wait for Luca.
Surface of Planet, 2209
I stood and waited next to Nakhi for Luca to arrive. I have 20 soldiers alongside me. I watched 3 shuttles come down. That will be enough for all 23 of us. We got into the shuttles and after everyone strapped in, we took off. Everyone seems to be on edge slightly.
Through our communications, I heard, "General, we picked up a carrier off the shore of the island."
"Thank you." I assume that that is going to be one of their stepping stones to get here.
Rendezvous Point, 2256
We landed and I said to the soldiers, "Find somewhere to hide where you will not be seen from the air or from the ground. Also be ready to move if something goes wrong."
Colonel Wainscott said, "Yes sir." They ran off.
I sat down on the floor of the transport. Nakhi said, "What now?"
"What does everyone ask me that?" I said. "Obviously we have to wait."
"How long?"
"I have no idea. Let's just sit down and wait. As soon as we see something, we will jump up and act professional."
Luca said, "What if something goes wrong?"
"Then we have soldiers to take care of it. As I have said many times though, nothing will go wrong."

Secretary Cecil wasn't at ease in the least. He felt like his winter coat would fall out all at once if his nerves didn't calm. The Major had assured him that if anything went wrong that they could get him out of there in under 30 seconds. Assuming of course he didn't wander too far from the helicopter. And that if the flare distractions didn't spook any would be attackers.
He was oddly enough less agitated after finding the report from the space agency that mentioned spotting what was likely their craft popping into local space. Would mean that it wasn't a group of random rebels from who knows where putting on a deluxe hoax. Something several miles long wasn't easily faked.
The time had come. The two helicopters neared the grassy expanse not far from the coast. There were trees and brush about, which seemed to be angering the major a little, given his verbal complaints. The secretary didn't want to hear about that of course and looked down at the best case translation of the welcome message again.
The two helicopters landed. The other one wouldn't have anyone disembark unless there was trouble or until an all clear was given by the secretary and the major.
"Cecil," said the Major. "Don't get yourself killed. Also, the other heli thinks they spotted their transportation a few hundred yards north. I recommend exiting and waiting for them to come near. They got here first so if they're hostile it would be best to keep near the bird here until we know what they're about."
"Will do Major."
The secretary opened the door to the helicopter. He and the two aids quickly hopped out. One was a rather short raccoon and the other was a bear of some sort. Also exiting with them was the obvious guard. The guard had no weapons but a single holstered pistol, a leather strap securing it obviously from a quick draw. If it was to be used, it would pretty much mean the other side was already shooting before it could be used. Cecil gulped as the door to the helicopter slammed shut.
After a minute or so, the bear said, "Hey, look over there. Think someone's coming."

General IX, Rendezvous Point
Well, they are here. I watched their helicopter land. I said, "Okay, we had better start walking, non threateningly, toward them. So Nakhi, sling your gun over your back. Luca, stop shaking." I have no room to talk there. My heart has never pounded like this since the War.
We approached slowly and I could easily make out that they are not human, exactly. They are anthropomorphic. At least I might now have something going for me since I brought Nakhi and Luca.
As I got closer, I said, "Greetings. I am IX."
And so it begins...

Cecil nodded. He had already handed his notes to the raccoon. As they neared, he calmed his tail a bit and straightened his back. He slowly spread his arms to show that he meant no harm. Or he hoped this would signal such.
The secretary was quite happy to hear something fairly close to what the linguists had said he should hear for this first meeting.
"Greetings. I am Secretary Cecil of the Union of Tinis. We come peacefully. We welcome you to the planet Earth. We seek open dialogue and understanding. I must apologize but my comprehension of your language is limited as is my ability to speak it. My assistants here might help but I hope you will be able to assist as well."

General IX
Okay, that calmed me down a bit. I wonder if I was visibly nervous.
"Thank you for the welcome. I will try to help with the understanding, as will the two people to my sides. I am the leader of this colony. To my right is Colonel Nakhi Welhan, my second in command. To my left is Major Luca Rio. I am quite excited to finally meet your people."

Mulkatis was very keen on the importance of first impressions.
"Good. This," pointing to the raccoon. "Is Huro. And this," pointing to the bear. "Is Zuvameretalis. The tall one in the back is Sergeant Ot."
The military otter nodded.
Mulkatis continued. "We are here to represent the Union of Tinis, one of many nations of this world. We would tell you this. Tinis belongs to a federation of nations whom seek a harmonious existence. This federation may be a good means for cooperation and civil exchanges with the multitudes of members. And if you are to claim this island, then the federation might welcome Anean into its number.
"The Union is a land of divers peoples and customs, but a respect for knowledge and civility. We hope there is mutual respect of such things between us. But please, tell us some about your people and the journey to this world."

General IX
This is going smoothly so far.
"There is a mutual respect of those indeed. Back home, we pride ourselves on our diversity.
"As for learning about us, I would not know where to start. We have a very long history spanning thousands of years. I guess I can keep it simple though to start. We come from the Andromeda Galaxy. Our capital is Haroma III, a planet much like this.
"Our Empire has two major races. The Haromians, or humans as we are known are one of them and make up just over half of the population. They are people like me. The other race is the Remnorans. They are people such as yourselves and the two soldiers behind me. They make up about forty five percent of our population.
"Our ruler is Emperor Nakhi Fhulsar Welhan. To clarify it now, this tiger is not related to him in any way." I laughed a little at that. "However, unlike many emperors in our past, he is probably the fairest of them.
"As for our journey out here, it was very uneventful. At least, that is what I hear. I was... frozen for the trip. However, it did take almost 50 years." Under my breath I muttered, "We could have gotten here in a few weeks if Welhan wasn't so damn cautious..."
"Anyway, would it be possible to sit down somewhere and carry on our conversation? I would enjoy hearing about your people."

Foreign Affairs Secretary Kimi Pickford (Hampster, not a Tiger, sorry to break the flow) Had called a meeting after an alarmed notice from South Eledorian Air Defense. She started, "So I guess there's something going on. All I've got so far was one of those really awkward, nervous calls from Andy, who should be joining us shortly. There's apparently a very large item which has landed on an island in a direction northeast, Please give us some detail on this, Colonel Tatka."
Colonel Tatka (a dragon), of the South Eledorian Air Defense (ESAD) Koh: Eledorapo Szat Aoerokhr Dankiz began reading from his notes, "An object measuring 12.875 km by 4.828 km landed on a land mass specified in the notes you all should have copies of. We ruled-out radar error due to the unusual size of the object and did confirm it's existence by photo by satellite. It is possibly a vessel. We immediately contacted CAHA for analysis and consultation. And with that I pass this to you, Dosh."
Doytr Dosh (a raptor) of the Apparat of Haoromatic and Other Aviation (CAHA) Koh: Ciw Apparata dan Haorogoreck Avenychr started, "The object in question is within the Ridley-Sween definition of a vessel probably capable of a form of superluminal or tacholuminal transit based on very detailed analysis by satellite. We are still in the process of determining the nature of it's arrival, it will take some time, we have one of our telephasing workshops working on it. I unfortunately haven't heard anything from Tinis yet if they're doing similar, I imagine they are, given the situation, we will likely confer with them shortly."
Kimi asked, "Ok, so: who or what is controlling this thing and what's going on around it? Are we dealing with aliens? Humans? Robots? Other Furries?"
Brigadier K4GID0RO of the MRZF (Army), a mechanical tyrannosaurid made a snorting sound.
Kimi added, "Or other robots even.
Brigadier, what is your assessment of possible threat?"
Brigadier K4GID0RO started, "Well it's about time you asked, they could have been shelling us or detonating some kind of neutron bomb while you were blabbering about what color the ship is or whatever. Whomever this is has apparently put something on the ground and that something involves a quantity of defensive hardware and personell according to satellite data. We do not know their intentions at this time so this situation demands utmost caution.
There has been a communication issued from them which I assume you all have been briefed with. We are working on translation, because the initial translation which we got from Fort Mogke was, as things sometimes tend to be, somewhat abstract."
Kimi then pressed the play button on the tape deck that the Brigadier brought in. A Kohtohkhan interpretive translation of the message played back:
Attentions jurisdictory units from of world. Present are (IX) Nine Generals of the Empire of Anean Stellar Objects. We are not intending state of conflict. We are on writing utensil cheese box east of continent. Do want the peace speaking section. Are Politely request of response. We no make harm.
Kimi pressed stop. The Brigadier continued, "It is highly likely that there is misinterpretation in the translation. The original transmission is a language which we are unfamiliar with and our translation is based on a nearest-fit methodology.
We're not sure if they are indicating that their leadership is a council of nine generals, or a single individual with a name of roman numberal 'IX', it is also possible that it is an individual who's name is a phonetic "ix".
And it is highly likely that the part about the writing utensil cheese box is a misalignment of connotation in our translation. It's safe to assume it's intended to be "land mass" based on what we know of their location."
Secretary Tajir (Prime Minister) Vuela Konig came into the room followed by Apparateur Commander, 4D13 Qualt and Sudo to the Apparateur, Hiyike Andertol.
Vuela, a light grey wolf-raptor hybrid, said, "Good Morning everyone. I'm sorry it took such a while for me to get here. We've been basically doing the same breifing over at the Ice Tray*."
Andertol, an orange-and-brown allosaurid didn't say anything and just sat down.
Qualt, a red mechanical dragon said, "So I guess we have a problem here.
The thing is we have a conflict of policy. The policy of us Malych, in the Dobplaron reservation is to not make contact in this situation. So the Madam Secretary Tajir, Ms. Konig is going to be in charge of this.
Vuela said, "We're going to send a diplomatic envoy there to rendezvous. I've gotten some word that Tinis has already established dialogue.
Brigadier K4GID0R0, I want to make sure there's a lot of eyes on that ship and landmass sure, but I want you to put every major city on security alert just in case. I am giving you permission to set up for rapid defensive mobilization stand-by. We don't know what we are dealing with so we must be cautious. Polite, but cautious.
"Affirmative and agreed, Madam-sir.", the Brigadier replied.
Vuela continued, "Dosh, I want to know what that ship is and if we're in any kind of danger which is not readily apparent from it. Let me know as your apparat finds things out."
Dosh nodded, clicked and saluted.
She continued, "Colonel Tatka, I want you to keep doing what you're doing. This is a situation which requires caution. We don't know what these visitors are or what they intend to do. Hopefully our diplomatic envoy will be able to establish a better dialogue with them and establish a peaceful understanding. I assume that is the direction it will go, but we still must take precautions. Tinis has already started the process and we will follow.
Secretary Kimi, please send a response to them. It should be sent in the same language as Tinis' response to avoid confusion. It should read: "Greetings to the people and the nine generals of the Anean. We are the Federal Republic of Miokalia. We want to establish peace. We will send a diplomatic escort to your land so that we may establish better understanding. Once again, we do not intend any harm. Need assistance in understanding speaking."
* The Ice Tray is the nickname for the main headquarters of the armed forces. Miokalia's equivalent to America's Pentagon building.

Captain Talamo, ASE Colony Ship, Communications Room
"Greetings to the people and the nine generals of the Anean. We are the Federal Republic of Miokalia. We want to establish peace. We will send a diplomatic escort to your land so that we may establish better understanding. Once again, we do not intend any harm. Need assistance in understanding speaking."
I said, "Get the word out to IX."
The soldier in the room said, "Sir, he already met with the Tinis diplomat."
"Are either of the other two TEL soldiers here?"
"No. They are with him."
"I don't care. Get me communications with him."
"Very well sir." A few moments passed. "We have contact."
"General, this is Captain Talamo."
After a moment IX said, "Yes Captain?" I can hear the irritation.
"I'm sorry to bother you, but we got another response."
"Great." He was silent for a moment. "I am sending Nakhi back to you. He will take my place."
"I expect that your meeting is going well regardless?"
"I think so. Anyway, I have to go."
"Understood. Captain Talamo."
I think the soldier in here smiled as he said, "So what do we do now?"
"You are waiting for the Colonel. I am going back to the bridge."
Colonel Nakhi Welhan
"Let me hear the message." The soldier played it. I wish IX were here right now, but I think I can handle this. "Send this back to them, 'We can help with language understanding. Just tell us where you would like to meet and we will be there.'"
The soldier said, "Message sent."
"Good. I will be in my cabin. Tell me if there is a response."

The HMS Magpie had been quietly observing the situation out at sea. The Landing had not gone unnoticed by them but they had held back as the north was not their domain. The ship had been quietly intercepting communications traffic, this was one of the thing the Magpie cruisers did for the commonwealth around the globe. They could be at sea for years in theory but they rarely did more than a six month tour, they preferred for the crew not to become too odd due to isolation.
The magpie had recently left HMS Sarue nu, the naval base next to the city, so it's crew were fairly fresh.
The commonwealth had held back due to them not wanting to tread on the toes of the tinisians, but now one of the other south eastern powers had stepped in. Their position changed.
Prime minister Salato forwarded a message to the Magpie to be sent.
“Greetings
I am Prime Minister Eye Salato en of the commonwealth and my people request a meeting with your people. The cruiser the HMS Magpie has no orders other than to observe and aid diplomatic relations. How ever it does have standing orders to defend itself, I hope this is not required.
I am concerned as to the fate of the indigenous population of the isle you have calmed, we do not wish war we wish for trade but please assuage our concern.
Yours
Eye Salato en”
The cruiser sent the message and the three hundred meter cruiser de-stealthed as by order making it very visible. All of it's 23 inch guns were in there cowling's.
- OOC: And island that size must have had an indigenous population of something, sorry for throwing a spanner into the works...actually not really as it adds to the fun!
OOC: de-stealthing involves them putting a pile of radar reflectors between the fore radar auxiliary radar mast, the mid one and the rear auxiliary radar mast.

Colonel Nakhi Welhan
Another contact, but with someone else. This is not going to end well at this rate. I contacted IX and said, "General, we need to call a conference or something."
IX said, "Why?"
"We have another contact."
"Okay. Let me see if I can pull something together. Until then, respond to the new contact."
"Yes sir." I closed communications. I traced the location of the message and sent this back to them:
"Prime Minister Eye Salato en,
"I look forward to a meeting of our people. I understand the standing orders of your cruiser and have no desire to cause an incident.
"As for an indigenous population, I was unaware that there was one, but if we find other people then we will leave them alone for the most part. Same as you, we do not want war either.
"Due to other requests, would any language assistance be necessary with your people?
Colonel Nakhi Fhulsar Welhan, Advisor to General IX"
