Yes, that's a first isn't it?
Anyway...
I have been tossing an idea around about bringing the Galactic Games (usually every 10 years, but last one was canceled because of Third Fed. War) to New Gracaria. I figure that could be an interesting international event that shouldn't result in a war. Plus there would be nations (mostly my NPCs) from Andromeda participating.
I am working out the events as of right now, but I can make it up as I go.
So, ideas? Yes? No? Things that need work?

Interesting idea, how would it work? Would it be conversion and interaction and then use like random.com or something to pick a winner? How would the back and forth work?

I was thinking kind of like, the opening ceremonies and such would be normal RP, then I have a scorinator for the events. As for back and forth, there doesn't have to be that considering it's a sports thing.

I'm think in terms of the sports involved: they should probably be ones which there are teams on Earth for. Otherwise it would just be kinda non-inclusible.
Also we should try to avoid bloodsports which might draw ire and cause people to boycott.

Only you barbaric earthers would protest bloodsports It's not like you'd have to attend, and at least the Andromeda powers would attend it. Anyway, yes, I do suppose that I should limit the violent events as well as have some made for Earth so they they can feel less left out on their own planet. Upside to that is that some Anean sports bare are similar to sports on Earth. Though... a little (lot) more violent

Most 'bloodsports' aren't actually that bloody. Even during the Roman era very few people died during gladiatorial games. It wasn't until someone got the bright idea to turn the arena into a mini-ocean and have mock naval battles that it got genuinely bloody (for human lives anyway, I think on the grand opening they slaughtered lots of animals...)

Over 9000 animals, according to Wikipedia. But I suppose you're right. I think that there'd have to be at least guidelines for the more violent sports to prevent death. Besides, almost all sports are inherently violent
